GamersNexus confirmed that Steam Machine will randomly ship either 2x8GB DIMMs orrrrrrrr a single 16GB DIMM of RAM. Single-channel RAM has lower perf, and we’ll eventually see real-world tests of whether that’s a noticeable difference for SteamOS gaming or not. Valve confirmed they did this due to being at the mercy of RAM availability - lest they ship far fewer units at launch. Woof.
