There’s a new bed placement agency or admin hired to “increase throughput.” Basically they lie to us about these people’s medical conditions and pressure us to stop wasting time asking silly questions by threatening to report us for violating EMTALA. Then the mildly depressed patient shows up on the psych ward and asks me, a nurse whose specialty of ten years is stopping people from punching each other, what I’m going to do about their cardiomyopathy. I don’t even know what cardiomyopathy is without googling it. And then it turns out most of the reason they’re mildly depressed IS the untreated cardiomyopathy. And they room them with a patient who thinks aliens put a chip in their brain to beam in pedophilic thoughts and stop them from being able to tell who the shapeshifters are and who mutters to themselves all night about the indigo people. The best I can do is stop that patient from punching them because again, as stated, that is my primary skillset.
