Oof
I felt that third paragraph
Our current generation thinks in meme templates and comedy (or “racial humor” aka racist humor.
Every line has to be a “zinger”
Every article is just putting a spin on a popular idea, even a correct idea, but not really deepening or building off or it.
We have catch phrases.
“Words as stimuli” some psychologists have called it
We react.
We don’t really think.
We yap because it gets us attention and validation.
But nothing new is produced.
Nothing new is said.
Then we have ideas like “Everything that has been thought has been thought of before” or “There are no new ideas under the sun”
And I just… disagree with that.
We think our environment is all there is.
“Cognitive narrowing” as it’s sometimes called.
Cultural hegemony is neoliberalism whose output is postmodernism and that means endless deconstructions and subversions.
“Nothing is true; everything is permitted” so says a popular video game series.
Very liberating when you hear it as a child.
But even then, I had reservations.
I guess do believe in sanctity.
I am not a secularist.
I am an atheist.
But we still need awe.and wonder.
And values and virtues.
I don’t believe in chaos.
Chaos has always hurt me, just like it allowed people in my actual life, white supremacists and fascists, to hurt me.
“Nothing is true; everything is permitted” so says a popular video game series.
originally from the novel Alamut, if i’m not mistaken

i should read Alamut sometime
Chaos is a fact. It’s up to us what, if anything, to make of it.
yes but we have to make constraints and form from chaos
Yes. Chaos births order. We’re the midwives.
Exactly
time is a flat circle
What if it was a cube?
Or a trapezoid?
…Can it be an octagon?
Please? That would be so cool
let’s not get crazy here :)
Awww :/
This ties into what you and I discussed earlier. It makes fighting bigotry difficult.
Tbh, I was speaking to more than just the “racial humor” thing (I realized that I typed what I said too fast and didn’t word the first part correctly)
But yeah, I agree.
Honestly, when people don’t believe in stuff to begin with.
Then people can fill your head with all sorts of things.
so…there’s a tiktoker gen Z every two generations or what?
If that’s the case then that means the next gen won’t be, right?
Gen Althusser
This is what Sons of Liberty was warning us about
