“no choice”
If only lies had consequences.
There were choices. They could do a play/install disc combo. If Sony didn’t allow that for some reason, they could easily split the game in two and put the two SKUs in the same case.
They just didn’t want to. It wasn’t a scenario where there were no options.
If only lies had consequences.
They do. It’s called “voting with your wallet”. Don’t like this decision? Don’t buy the game.
as if that wouldn’t be misconstrued as “people don’t want physical media. Just look at the poor sales”
Growing up means understanding that the only thing you can control is your own actions. What other people do isn’t your concern unless you’re going to go make it their concrn.
Space available on a bluray disk: 50GB max for a dual layer disk.
Game’s total size: 210GB.
The only other choice was to do what they used to do back in the day: Put it on 5 disks.
PS5 discs can store up to 100 GB.
3 then.
Just thinking about final fantasy 7, needing 3 discs, turns my stomach.

Same but only because I rebought a used copy years later, played it up to disk 3, only to find that disk 3 had a tear in the label and couldn’t be read at all. 😩
No Choice
No buy
Simple as😤
It’s hard to imagine what in this game needs to take up 210GB…
Rebirth is almost 150GB. In Revelation, they’re cutting the Mythril Mines and some places like the Gongaga reactor that you wouldn’t return to at this point of the game, and they’re adding the Northern Crater, Wutai, Mideel, Rocket Town (remade as a space center), Fort Condor, and Midgar is back, each of this as a full region, not just one city. They’re not adding full underwater exploration, but there are underwater events.
I don’t know how this game can be under 250GB.
“First and foremost, personally, I’m very happy that we are able to release a physical disc version of FFVII Revelation considering how the entire gaming market, or the landscape, is veering towards the disc-less direction,”
Except… this might as well not be a physical disc version. It’s like, the worst of both worlds.
