First up… this is not a call for donations.

Without going into the personal details as to why: I don’t have the energy to give this place the attention it needs, and I’m no longer willing to cover the majority of running costs.

I don’t have a fully fledged solution to this, and don’t have the energy to come up with one. The best I can come up with is I hand the reins over to Nath, and some sort of community funding is set up to cover costs.

If anyone knows of above board methods to establish a crowd funded piggy bank for something like this, I’m all ears.

    @[email protected] mate, this community has been a godsend for me. Thank you so much for setting it up and keeping it running while you had the space for it in your life.

    It’s been such a joy to feel like I have an extra set of friends to shoot this shit with online, make jokes, make political arguments, nerd out with and generally have a gab.

    For crowd funding, I’m a fan of Liberapay and fund a lot of my favourite people and projects that way.

    Thank you lodian for the impressive work at making such a seamless experience and Nath for being top admin and having their back.

    I’m keen to donate to help cover costs but in my situation I can only provide fairly sporadic financial help.

    I also fully agree with the notion of regular financial updates of where the community is at along with gentle reminders to donate. Particularly for people in my financial situation who have more sporadic financial freedom.

    Thanks heaps for making this community and keeping it running for 3 years Lodion. Ill admit that I had drifted away from Lemmy recently since joining shortly after Reddit killed the 3rd party apps, but am happy I opened it just now to see this post.

    Even as the irregular user I have become, I would be happy to chuck in a small amount to support the running costs of the site as its good to have this quiet and conscientious community to participate in when I feel up to engaging.

    I am semi tech literate, and will hopefully be getting diagnosed with the ADHD in the near future so if that helps me organise my time better I would be happy to try and support with the operation of the site itself, as well as hopefully contributing within the community here more as my current shit dopamine seeking habit is the endless instagram doomscroll, which isn’t ideal!

    Wishing you the best and I hope everything goes as well as it can in your personal life, and understand how that takes the priority!
