I’m a big fan of Safari and how seamlessly it works with all my Apple devices, but these ads are pushing me to the edge. I can’t even get through an article without being interrupted by some ad or another. It’s super annoying.
I’ve looked up older threads on this, and I’m choosing between two adblockers rn - Stop the Madness and Magic Lasso. They both seem like they could be a solution, but I’m not sure which one to go for. Anything that stands out?
Are there other options I’m missing?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insights you guys can offer.
adguard: when playing yt in ios safari, every few vids the video does not start - and i have to refresh the page then it works.
anyone else?
Maybe too simple of an idea but have you tried the “reader mode”?
The most obvious place these work are the horrible recipe websites. Many ads to scroll and scroll through to see the damn ingredient list. Hold the AA 🔑 looking logo by the address bar to enable it. I have mine set to dark mode so the annoying ad filled white page becomes dark mode with no ads. Works really well on most pages. But not all.
Switch to brave. Even YouTube ads disappear
Does that only happen if you watch YouTube in the browser? I usually watch through their app.
I use pihole + adguard and browsing has been ad free even on sketchy sites
Safari doesn’t have ads, websites have ads. Easy fix, like others have said, reader mode. I haven’t tried ad blockers but, there are some websites you can become a member of and ads go away, like blu-ray.com, they have forums, but ads are obnoxious, and so, if you sign up for free, all the ads go away, and you can post on the forums.
Whenever there’s ad in an article I refresh the page and quickly turn on the Reader Mode.
WIPR. You’re welcome.
nextDNS with adblock filters works wonders

Wipr works great for iOS and macOS for me
Wipr for iPhone/iPad and Adguard for Mac
Wipr also works in Safari on the Mac btw.
I use Firefox Klar and integration with Safari activated. Pretty good to block ads.
