Hello, I mostly see news posts here, so I hope questions are allowed, too.

I’m running FreeBSD on my personal machine with XFCE. Every time I plug in USB flash drive or SD card, the system refuses to umount them because “the device is busy”.

At first I thought it might be caused by the XFCE, maybe there’s some background process hanging or something. But when I run lsof I don’t get anything at all.

I usually just do operations on the removable device from the console, so again I don’t think it’s related to my file manager (Thunar as it’s default in XFCE) or the desktop environment in general.

I’ve been trying to figure what’s causing this for a while now and I can’t think of anything else. Has anyone had a similar issue? How did you fix it?

If I omitted any information that would be helpful, I’m sorry and please let me now and I’ll post it.
