This headline makes my heart happy.
Yes…(?)
Nonstarter for me then. Thank you for that info!
I just want to keep my pre windows 10 compact taskbar & not have my oldest software become broken. If I can do that, I’ll upgrade, just to stop dealing with the nagging. But, for now, I will definitely just sign up for security extension for another year. I’d consider a Linux switch, if I understood it at all. Does it support my design software (AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe…)?
Good point. I just turned off the browser extension and used the desktop program instead and it doesn’t give me the same error. Clearly, it is not a universal ban but only detects some conditions.
Edit: I spoke too soon on that. It’s blocking the desktop app as well.
Now that you mention it, that’s what makes it stand out. I’ve been checking out various instances and hadn’t seen this elsewhere.
As a large popular instance, that makes sense. Thanks.
It doesn’t bother me really. I just was surprised to notice it. Maybe it just somehow wasn’t affecting me till now.

Thanks for the warning.
For the communities I started, I like how the tags/hashtags function in sidebar word clouds.
The people here are engaging, helpful, supportive.
I’m no programmer but piefed seems to yield really fast response times from those who are building it.
It’s bare bones but it works that way efficiently.
I never started a community on Lemmy so I don’t know it quite as well.
I like the styles available for Lemmy but I think piefed will eventually come around in that way.
Keyboard navigation works on piefed. I’m grabbing my news scrolling through feeds a lot lately and this is basic usability I want to see in my RSS feed readers or Lemmy aggregators, etc.
Does this community still need to be transferred somewhere? I can start it on piefed, just to hopefully save it. I’d be looking for some help though. This sort of thing is beyond me, even if I have been dipping my toes in the water (I started 3 communities, am learning).
I’m just seeing a blank spot where an icon will fit. You don’t have to move anything.
Some apps let you choose what all goes down there. I think Summit was the last one I looked at.
Yes.
Please put the bookmark/save button on the thingy down there. There’s plenty of room.
Other than that and some kickass themes, I think PieFed is ahead of the curve in the lemmyverse ATM.
To say Substack is a massive disappointment would be an understatement. I’m constantly finding great pieces to read there from journalists with integrity who have been ostracized from legacy media and this shit is just another brutal slap in their faces for no sustainable reason. There’s no angle to it.
