Can you link any direct confirmation that this is actually a VM on hypervisor, and not just a non-hypervised VM but with GPU passthrough like the Crostini on ChromeOS? These two are very different things.

It’s really not a surprise this particular species is soooo widely spread! :D
Yeah if you can manage to get one without their outrageous official price, these are really amazing devices for enthusiasts, took me less than 3 minutes to unlock bootloader and root (most of the time spent by the full system wipe from unlocking bootloader). And they are some of the last flagship spec’ed phones that still have SD card support, and headphone jack, and they come with very clean AOSP-like ROM with minimal customization and no bloat, and because of that most of the root-empowered system customization tools developed for Pixel phones mostly work out of the box on these phones too
Sony
They straight up support the concept of open devices: https://developer.sony.com/open-source/aosp-on-xperia-open-devices

I don’t know much about Guilded but just looked it up and saw that it got bought by the Roblox Corporation in 2021, soooo I wouldn’t count on it not enshitify very soon too :(
Why wouldn’t you use a dedicated APK extraction app of your choice to extract the APK file, then send to another device using a file sharing method of your own choice, be it WLAN-direct or even Bluetooth, instead of using Google’s locked-in proprietary tool?
But it was originally derived from coal gas back in the 3rd quarter of the 19th century, when the first internal combustion engine for transportation application was being developed.
As someone who enjoys growing and studying about many many different kinds of carnivorous plants, don’t worry too much about feeding them, instead make sure you get them enough lighting and good water supply through good quality substrate (not something that’s been decomposing for 3+ years and turning into mulch) with adequate aeration. The need for metabolic energy always comes first before nutrition (which is what these plants get from eating meat), same concept to how not having access to oxygen to breath is a lot more dangerous to a human or animal than being malnourished.
Happy growing! :D
More like enshitification is the norm.
What’s capitalism without enshitification? And in an actually functioning society where capitalism is not literally the only thing the society operates on, there would be regulatory and state policies preventing enshitification from becoming the only thing there is because supposedly a government is one of the things that is NOT for-profit like a company. So without that enshitification would be the only thing left in a pure capitalism society.
And we are watching exactly how it’s like when a government is becoming for-profit in the US :(
Chinese companies have always been enshitifying for decades. A defining characteristic of China is that it’s pure capitalism with very little regulation compares to even the US, and nowhere close to the EU.
This is just a Linux VM just like th Crostini in ChromeOS, so I’d expect similar 40%+ performance loss compares to for example proot container through Termux running natively.
The only thing this could probably offer would be giving you better OS GUI Integration into Android, like Crostini on a ChromeOS device. But if that is needed you might as well just use an Android port or an Android equivalent of your Linux software anyway, it’s not like you’d ever want to run Matlab, GIMP or OpenFOAM on your Android phone with its tiny screen anyway LMAO
That’s the whole point here, allowing or disallowing phones should be the discretion of teachers based on what class they are actually teaching, be it language classes where there’s no need for phones or STEM classes where a pocket general purpose computer has many good uses and offer particularly good opportunities to teach students how to make constructive uses of smartphones in practical real life situations.
And instead having this being outright a ban on the school level, like being proposed here, is exactly the single worst possible way to do this. Having it banned on school level but having arbitrary “exception” being allowed defeated the whole purpose and makes it practically no difference from the above, and also open up lots of loopholes for abuse. You also can’t just have a list of school or government level “officially approved exceptions” because it’s ultimately about a technology, and technology is always evolving way faster than bureaucracy.
Exactly, and banning mobile phones is one fantastic way to make sure schools can never provide classes that teach them about positive and healthy technology choices, and I meant a real class about that, not just a class for the sake of pretending to be a class filled with only hypotheticals
It’s true theoretically carbon fiber filling will always reduce Impact resistence, but it shouldn’t be too much of an issue for this application when the polymer already have exceptional impact resistence and thus a lot of headroom to spare. In other words, because of how the polymers like PA/PC already have so much impact resistence, the stuff usually riot shield or motorcycle helmet shell is made of, there will still be more than enough impact resistence after the impact resistance reduction from CF filling, to be sufficiently impact resistent for a throwing mug LMAO
At least my power tools who’s handles and casings are made of PA6 + 30% glass fiber (which has even worse impact resistence impact than CF) hold up more than sufficiently from getting thrown around lol
And hopefully it can be highly rich in rare minerals, so that when the ashes of WW3 finally settle down, at least the future generations of humans or not-human sapient entities will at least get something good out of the whole ridiculous mess we’re currently in lol
Which is awesome, but then it shouldn’t cost this much.
Unless if it’s made of some of the actually ultra high performance plastics, like maybe polycarbonate or carbon fiber reenforced PA-6/PPA for example, but I highly doubt that’s the case
Wow it’s really cool someone from a military background went into the field of cybersecurity!
Is this common at all in cybersecurity?
Simulator games, where people play with specialized hardware specifically modeled after real control systems on real world vehicles. Such as flight simulators, train simulators, tank simulators, etc.
Just because you play video games as an escape from reality, doesn’t mean video games have to be intentionally different from the reality.
Thanks, this might prove promising!
