Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•[Discussion] The revolution has happened and You have been given an enormous budget to build a communist community center. What are the facilities and services you propose building?
5·17 days agoSheltered beds, big kitchen, guerilla education centre and shooting range with armoury in order to stave of the counter revolution.

Russia@lemmygrad.ml•These images of the Soviet people defending the USSR are not something you'll see in the West's "documentaries"... They're from November 7, 1991, in Moscow, a month before the USSR was dissolved.

In the referendum, 78% voted to keep the Soviets, so there is something to be said about party revisionism here, which basically started with Khrushchev. To keep it short; Mao was right and had foresight the USSR clearly lacked.

The Deprogram@lemmygrad.ml•1 out of 3 Gen Zs in America like communism! Let's go Gen Z!!
6·3 months agoI don’t know how useful these kinds of surveys are. If you look at the survey methodology they only include voters which I believe would skew the results pro-capitalist. They also use some propensity scoring with logistic regression to get around the population cohort skew. Only about 47% of Americans voted in 2024 and 34% in 2022 (also counting ineligible citizens). Finally, first time voters, in general world-wide, tend to be more radical than last time voters. I believe class consciousness is on the rise across the US as the living conditions for ordinary citizens deteriorate, and they join the precariat part of the proletariat, but I wouldn’t put faith in a policy survey from the Cato institute for that.

Palestine@lemmygrad.ml•UNRWA (2024-12-20): On the decision by the Government of Sweden to stop funding UNRWA in 2025
2·1 year agoBenjamin Dousa (the former leader of the “moderate” youth and the current minister responsible for international development) is a right wing hawk and the reason for this decision. There really isn’t anything more you need to know. He parrots all the same policy decisions as you would expect from an American republican who tries to hide the fact that he’s a fascist who hates the poor and minorities. He recently made a trip to Israel/Palestine and it was after this trip he decided that Sweden should ban UNWRA. We don’t really know what was said or who he talked to during the trip.
Please note that the current government of Sweden is depending on a Neo-Nazi party in order for them to stay in power. (NERD TRIVIA) We on the left lovingly name this constellation “Tidölaget” since the governing agreement which was signed by the governing parties was made at the castle at “Tidö” and team in Swedish is “laget”. Tidelag (which sounds like Tidölag) is Swedish for having sex with animals (SD == Swedish Democrats == Sweden’s Neo Nazi Party). I apologize for the lousy English since it is late now :P

GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•Fellow EU tankies, is the war drum being beaten in your country as well?
25·2 years agoYeah, Sweden is going all in on military expenditure since our planned ascension into NATO seems to be giving everyone a hard on, despite decreasing security and increasing the risks of entering into conflict. Any alternative perspective is discarded, polls show a majority is in favour of the ascension, so no one is willing to drive any counter opinion. Military service is also expanded, the weapons industry is having a field day (if the stock market is any indicator). All in all a total shit-show with no sign of slowing down for at least a decade.
I think there is room for both processes if we’re to give Chomsky some leeway no? The capitalist basis, and the power relations which follow, is of course the “driver” of this but there are still differences between the US, which has essentially destroyed the world many times over, and capitalist countries like modern day Germany or Norway. Can it be explained solely, and deterministically, by the power expansion of the capitalist base? Or are there other processes, call them culture, or ideation, which exhacerbate the psycotic nature of the base? I believe so, but I don’t know if the word culture is best to describe and lump such processes together, but does that matter?
It is of course an idealist interpretation but I believe these can help in materialist investigation, or in the construction of a critical theory.

Donteskt children are being bombed by NATO, see the bomb behind the girl, the text on it reads NATO. Also the girl’s face and eyecolor is that of the Donetsk republic. Also Maruipol was one of the strongholds for nazism, as in not just an Azov HQ but also had a diaspora of WW2 nazis, which to my understanding had settled there.

GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•AI upscale image of a Young Stalin
5·3 years agoI think the AI is going out on a limb a bit. The features in the output are just a bit off, it doesn’t look like him anymore. Noseridge, eye spacing, hairline, cheekbone pronounciation, eyebrow spacing, mouthprofile, it’s kind of interesting how the normalized output reshapes the original.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•How's the imminent Niger war spoken of in your country?
8·3 years agoIn Sweden it is cast as a Russian/Wagner takeover snce we’re unable to comprehend anything outside of an colonial framework, instead of a struggle for self determination. That being said any counter narrative is portrayed as pro Russian propaganda being spread on pro Russian social media. Nothing is said about the French colonial bullshit, the unfair and exremely exploitative extraction of natural reaources, or even any attempt to correctly historically contextualize the “coup”.

I was looking for a way to make a local backup and found this post. More specifically I was looking for ZIM files to use with kiwix but I don’t really care how the backup is done. In a previous life I mirrored marxists using rsync but I guess it would create a similar situation but with bandwidth being the limiting factor instead of storage.
