Well, medieval maids didn’t look that way. This is more Victorian.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•After Today's meeting where Trump fell in love with Mamdani, this is MAGA tomorrow morning.
21·3 天前Hell yeah, an Alice in wonderland reference? Very rare👌🏽
I agree. I’m a sucker for a cozy game, and the art was adorable; but it requires a patience I do not possess.
This week I’ve been playing a game called Peaceful Days, it’s an indie game on steam kind of resembling harvest moon, and Stardew Valley. I gave it a second shot because the dev said he’s reworked it, but it’s still plenty convoluted. The puzzles are obscure and unintuitive, so you have to live on the forums. I think I’ve officially given up on it today.
Rune factory 5 was fun, (if I remember right) and I’m currently on the store page wondering if I should spend ~$35 to get RF Guardians of Azuma. (Suggestions welcomed)
Last week I was playing winter burrows. A game that really didn’t deserve the controversy. It’s a darkly cute survival game about a mouse who moves back to his first home from the city after their parents pass. You have to collect food, materials, and stay warm through your traveling. It’s kind of like Don’t starve; but cuter and not as hard. I can’t recommend it enough, it runs like a dream. It’s a bit realistic, so don’t expect fairytale mice - you will have to bury some bodies you find in the cold.
Don’t you already have your five names? I personally would attribute one to netyanyahoo or whatever his name is. He doesn’t deserve the respect. Don’t get alcohol poisoning!

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Bobby Dunbar was kidnapped, and returned to his parents... decades later DNA testing proved he was a different childEnglish
5·4 天前Maybe your parents don’t know either. They’re just covering all their bases. What if you were kidnapped from another family and switched with the baby they had, at a park or something- while no one was looking? Maybe your parents went through the whole changeling movie and just decided to put it to bed and accept the circumstances. This probably brings you no peace, but to be honest; it doesn’t matter too much if you did or didn’t, they’re still your parents for better or worse. (I look almost exactly like my mom, so I know I’m hers, but it’s not a warm thought if it makes you feel better)

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•is it fine to leave steam deck in sleep mode instead of turning it off?
1·4 天前Yeah, most cases act as kind of an insulator which is one of the reasons to just kinda turn it off if it’s in the case and you’re traveling, but otherwise not. Luckily it is pretty durable and won’t just sweat itself to death immediately.
“ To hear nature in a sawmill instead of machines… for any lumberman, that’s unnatural. I don’t want to sound overly dramatic, but it’s as unsettling as watching a loved one take their final breath.”
This guy is blubbering over the fact that he can hear the birds in his shop. He thinks that’s akin to someone in his family dying. Were it coming from any other person it would be “snowflake soy boy” behavior.
Though since his family is just as important as his shop, if he brings one of the younger girls to trump, he might be able to do a little tradie-poo with him.
It’s all enormously pathetic.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Dude read the rules of woman only community and decided to post anywayEnglish
4·5 天前That’s rough.
I do think that’s the rule of life though, to get something you have to part with something. I bet it would be really nice to be friends in real life with the people on that matrix, but right now at least that group needs anonymity more. It doesn’t always have to be that way, life is odd and there are no concrete outcomes. Though for now, I’m sure you appreciate having somewhere to go to be able to talk about things that maybe most people wouldn’t understand or lay judgement upon. I genuinely wish you and everyone on that matrix the absolute best.

91·5 天前I can agree with that, but I think for privacy you lose some inclusivity. I understand you want to feel comfortable when talking about sensitive topics. On the other hand, is being a woman really such a sensitive topic that we shouldn’t be able to have a space that’s respected? It’s depressing that it’s not just intrinsically understood that these spaces are important, deserve to be public and proud, and really should be more prolific- but here we are.

182·5 天前I can understand a mistake, and like I read on the original thread and on here; the mods are really nice. It just really shouldn’t happen more than once imo. I also feel bad for the mods literally trying to keep a space designated for woman safe. When I first saw the group, and the rules- It was confusing but I think it’s understandable. There’s not 100 of these spaces, and the rules should be understandable for anyone who thought of participating.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•is it fine to leave steam deck in sleep mode instead of turning it off?
2·5 天前Yes. I usually leave whatever game I’m playing on, running, on sleep mode. It’s always fine. I do however, make sure that the fan is not blocked off, and that it’s plugged in so I don’t wake up to a dead deck. Otherwise, there isn’t any danger that I’ve noticed- everything runs fine. If you’re NOT running anything and put it in sleep mode, any percentage above 15% should be fine. Turning it on and off actually takes more energy than sleeping it does, so I’d just keep doing what you’re doing.

378·5 天前I saw this play out and there were more than one of these users breaking the rules on that sub. I guess it’s tempting to want to comment on a first page thread, but boundaries exist for a reason. I don’t really see women going into incel spaces, making incels uncomfortable. Still, what it looked like was most of these men knew this wasn’t a community for them, but figured that their comments were so invaluable, how could it exist without their imput. It’s pathetic.
Yeah, I know that one actually I was thinking more of like just can’t find out, or tropical adventure.
It’s not about homophobia, Bill Clinton was impeached because of the Monica Lewinsky stuff, and that’s not illegal either. It’s more of the fact that his fan base think he’s above reproach while victimizing people in that community. It’s more like “what now? Trump likes a dick down as well” also, he talks shite about just about everyone even his allies and refuses to acknowledge anything problematic about himself or his family. Like, it’s not about any of the stuff you’re wondering about. Were making fun of him because he’s a fascist loser who I’m sure would get on his knees were the price to his liking. That’s all.
Hey, do you think your parents dropped you on purpose or by mistake? It’s almost embarrassing for me to see you not understand what’s being explained so carefully to you.

Off My Chest@lemmy.world•I'm overwhelmed with emotion at Mamdani's victoryEnglish
2·11 天前Hey, I actually voted for Mamdani! I live in Brooklyn and the support was there for him. There were people canvassing until the last day . Don’t want to give away too too much info on here, but to see him win and be able to overcome all the hate and Islamophobia is really inspiring. I’m also a first gen immigrant, and when I came here as a toddler I didn’t know any English. I’m glad he’s demonstrating that this is our city too, we will it to run, we do the dirty jobs, see the unseen, clean the filth, care for the old and sick only not to be seen as essential. Personally I’m not Muslim, but I’ve always had respect for the values of the religion. When I read The alchemist by Paulo Cuelho (the first time) it was amazing to realize that people could truly be bound to do good by religion. NYC has always been a melting pot, and it shouldn’t be run by someone who doesn’t see and appreciate that. Anyways, know that your hope and my hope are the same. Come January we’ll begin and see if there is still something worth fighting for. We really are only at the precipice.

Off My Chest@lemmy.world•Does anyone notice the hostile nature of the modern Internet, compared to the older Internet?English
1·11 天前This is a safe space (I think) Was it Reddit? That’s why I’m here. It’s illegal to have a different opinion on Reddit and these non federated sites. Seriously it’s insane how much hate you can get by saying something as simple as “children shouldn’t be left home alone” or something as obvious and banal as that.

Lmaoo it’s all good, It makes sense from the Japanese perspective that they might not be as versed in western history eras. We’re not so versed in their history. I only really know that their “medieval” period was called “the warring states era” because of Inuyasha. Everything else is right though! They do love the Victorian era and some people like the fashion and lifestyles pictured in that era (I.e men in pressed suits, women in intricate dress, getting tea poured from a fine teapot by a black and white clad Maid or butler)
