Vegan chickpea salad sandwiches are great. You can also get something tasty using marinated tofu. I agree that vegan sandwiches can be tough, but there are some good ones out there.

News@lemmy.world•US voters rebuke Trump as Democrats win control of Congress in ‘blue wave’English
0·1 day agoI mean, I used to live in Columbus. Didn’t feel very red to me, for obvious reasons, but the point is that your viewpoint can easily change based on the slice of Ohio you get to see. My impression in Columbus is you either had people who were clearly blue or people that didn’t seem to care. I’m sure the same is true just outside of Columbus if you switch “red” in for “blue.”
Honestly, after I saw this, I decided to look for alternatives that fit my use case and failed. All I want is a terminal where I can create splits and tabs in the same cwd as the current terminal even on a remote machine. I frequently want to create ad-hoc splits when working on a remote server. In kitty I can do this with a simply keystroke without any custom code or configuration, so long as I am using the ssh kitten. Are there any other terminals that do this? Bonus points if it implements kitty image protocol, which is used in a neovim plugin I use.

0·2 days agoI don’t know why people seem to forget that Ohio used to be considered a swing state. They are not “historically red,” which is why it always bothered me that Ohio was hopelessly red.
Oh, definitely. Greasy roasts are on the extreme end of the “dark roast” scale. I actually tend to be disappointed with greasy roasts and avoid them.
No, I think oil evaporates/boils at very high temperatures (think of how deep-frying is done at 325+ degrees). I think the oil on the surface of the bean in facts makes an oilier cup, based on my anecdotal evidence. You could do an experiment with a greasy and non-greasy dark roast and see which roast produces an oilier/fuller brew.
I’m not sure I follow what you mean by less oily. Dark roast beans are more likely to have oil on the surface. The oils are also generally something dark roast lovers try to retain in the brew, which is why a french press or a metal filter are good options for something like a french roast.
I think the oils add more body to the brew, which may affect how you perceive the flavor. This is also why people like light roasts through paper filters to achieve a more “clean” cup.
Vietnam is influenced heavily by France. French roast is essentially a very dark roasting style. Dark roasts tend to be greasy due to the beans releasing their oils after heavy roasting.

0·18 days agoYou’re moving in the wrong direction. Brave already has shown signs of enshittification.
Also Mozilla is right to make a stink here. Perhaps you are not familiar with what happened to Netscape?

0·21 days agoYeah, to be clear, I take no issue with it myself. I just see how someone could make the comparison.

0·22 days agoHe’s talking about the character portrait in the top left of the image of the post. I see what he means. Your character has that same blank look and even seems in the same approximate pose. I haven’t played your game, so I dunno if what he’s talking about applies to the whole game or just that image.

Games@lemmy.world•NBA 2K25 is being delisted later this month, servers (including single-player story mode) shut down at the end of the yearEnglish
0·1 month agoYeah, I seriously doubt that. Again, I worked in the studio. It was well staffed and the devs were incredibly competent. Games are just more complex now and since this is a AAA game, they aim for high fidelity. The main thing they need to do is not release a game every year, but that’s essentially throwing money away.

0·1 month agoSo I actually used to work on NBA2K. NBA Live used to be considered the superior game. One year, they missed their deadline and had to delay the game. This caused all the basketball fans to buy NBA2K. They all decided it was better and NBA Live never regained their lead, which lead us to today. Visual Concepts is now very adamant about never delaying the game, which is why there is a yearly crunch, devs get paid overtime, and they avoid feature creep aggressively.

0·1 month agoNo, because there are plenty of other places to get coffee. The only competing franchise, NBA Live, stopped being made years ago. The irony is that NBA licensing isn’t exclusive, so feasibly another studio could come in to create competition, but it won’t happen.

AskBeehaw@beehaw.org•need advice on choosing AI/ML as a careerEnglish
0·2 months agoI would not enter AI/ML for one simple reason: it is oversaturated. Everyone and their brother is in tgis field, and even those outside of it still study it and us it. Unfortunately the way to stand out within AI/ML field is to have a very good mathematics/statistics foundation and really understand the theory behind it. You would be better served by getting skills in another field that AI/ML relies on or where AI/ML can be applier.
BTW, you should also state what you plan on doing with your degree. There is no point in getting a degree if there isn’t a concrete benefit to doing so.

In the US, it is incredibly cheap. It’s made out of one of our cheapest crops: soybeans. You can get a pound of tofu for less than $2 probably, even at my “health food” stores. I’d suggest looking for Chinese/Japanese/Korean markets and see what they sell.
