I think what’s implied here is the types of feeds which give a completely new content page when you “refresh”, so it’s not a regular “refresh-as-in-show-me-content-that-got-posted-since-last-access”, but an algorithm driven “refresh-as-in-replace” mechanism to increase engagement by continuing to provide stimulating content.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Gun nuts of the fediverse. Do any guns use two magazines at once?
1·2 months agoThere was another one in Battlefield 1 - an experimental machine gun with two magazines, but only one could be engaged at a time. You would pull one out slightly and push the other one in. The idea was to be able to switch between two different types of ammo for increased versatility (e. g. regular ammo against infantry and incendiary for anti-air). As with most weapons featured in Battlefield 1, I think this was a prototype that never saw any real action.

World News@lemmy.world•Australian teen charged with sticking googly eyes on artworkEnglish
40·3 months agoLooking at the “damage” - it seems whoever removed them used a hard scraper and some sort of aggressive solvent. This is not damage from the googly eyes, but from the hands of the remover, who probably had too much caffeine and enthusiasm that day.
Something something corellation, causation

2·7 months agoWoah, it was under 480k just 2 days ago and it shot past 530k in such a short time. Looks like the renewed attention has put some wind back in the sails! Not expecting it to succeed, but still nice to see nonetheless

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If all your basic needs were met and you didn't have to work to get by, what would you do with your life?
8·9 months agoI beg to differ. Entertainment is very much absolutely necessary for having a healthy mind.

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube's next move might make it virtually impossible to block adsEnglish
29·2 years agoThey are transcoding them into the video. Sponsorblock had to make a quick change to discard submissions from users that have been identified to be on this trial system, because it affects the video length, and as such - makes it impossible to have consistent segments

FoodPorn@lemmy.world•How do you feel about grilling whole onions?English
1·3 years agoThat looks delicious. I believe it was also very common to just bake whole onions in victorian times as a hearty meal on a string budget

Machine For Pigs wasn’t written by Fractional Games though. It was by The Chinese Room, which should put quite a few things in perspective
