- Cheaper training and inference while still delivering sota performance ✅
- All while doing it in the public view through open source releases and white papers ✅
- Proving that you can release safer open source models while American companies have claimed their interiority by close sourcing their models ✅

All of the current, public models aren’t to be trusted for reasons articulated by other commenters

I did support this policy, but more from an ecological perspective given the extraordinary Chinese gains in AI training and inference efficiency that the restrictions engendered

The capitalist and petit bourgeoisie classes mobilized the national, state, and local policing apparatuses for one man while flooding the zone with CEO sympathetic think pieces in mainstream media across conservative and liberal channels alike.
Ex. the mayor of NYC perp walked Luigi just to show how deep the allegiance of civil society is to the ruling class.
I agree that the ruling class is generally callous to human (or other) life, but this inequitable ship would have sunk long ago if they didn’t maintain an infrastructure of hegemony in their own self interest
Philo_and_sophy@lemmygrad.mlto Thoughts on ...?@lemmygrad.ml•Thoughts on Zohran Kwame Mamdani?English13·4 months agoHis best contribution to the movement is hope.
Many liberals and unorganized progressives who believe in electoralism see him as a beneficial product of that process. Young people have poured into his race with the same gusto as Obama.
Those same people will grow jaded when he can’t deliver because NYC and NY politics are so corrupt and broken
If we fail to move those people to ML based organizations before they reactionary their way to Adams 2.0, then that’s on us
Philo_and_sophy@lemmygrad.mlto Thoughts on ...?@lemmygrad.ml•Thoughts on Zohran Kwame Mamdani?English9·4 months agoI really want to believe this, but many of the reactionary de blasio supporters cite his failure to achieve anything as grounds to vote the Adams, and we can see where that got NYC
Philo_and_sophy@lemmygrad.mlOPto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Potential revolutionary uses of AIEnglish2·4 months agoThis is my favorite idea so far, especially in regards to toppling the ideological hegemony that liberalism holds
For the nuts and bolts:
There are already large scale implementations of this like perplexity.ai or notebookllm that use explicitly retrieved resources to make their claims and enable you to verify their veracity
A first demo would be archiving something like Marxists.org or the prolewiki into a vector database for real time RAG lookups
Pull the text from the site itself or archive.ph and have the llm generate the critiques and additional content from there
The most seamless interface would likely be a browser extension vs a separate site, but baby steps and mvps ftw
TBH, I’m kind of surprised this hasn’t been done already
Philo_and_sophy@lemmygrad.mlOPto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Potential revolutionary uses of AIEnglish2·4 months agoGreat points all around. And ditto on triangulation of jammers, as they’d have to be mobile operations to avoid retaliation
Re jailbreaking, there’s actually a treasure trove of resources on arxiv and GitHub. Here are a few with near 100% success rate
https://arxiv.org/abs/2310.08419, https://github.com/patrickrchao/JailbreakingLLMs
And how this is a “baked in” flaw vs a superficial/incidental security issue

The thing is that any grace extended to these companies will be exhausted by the time we get to actual inflationary drivers (water and food scarcity, disrupted supply chain from crumbling infrastructure, etc.)
And since Democrats continue to gaslight Americans in service to these corporations, there is a broad opportunity to organize the disaffected

Moreover, I can’t find any record of him saying that he would have liked to have finished this song
Especially after he was praising Israel in 2003
As a black revolutionary, I find it appalling how readily we will mine black artists for their talent without a second thought, especially given how few arenas black genius was allowed to thrive
Exploiting the work of a deceased black person is still exploitation, and I hope we can agree that the only ethical use of AI is with an artist’s consent
