  • Something in-between I’d say. When I’m doing it, it’s an automatism. When I don’t, I feel kinda uncomfortable and I have to do it. Also, sometimes I rub one out just to feel kinda normal again (for another, let’s say, hour) and not have to crave it. I’m doing it not out of pleasure, but out of I don’t even know what at this point.

Tho I’m pretty sure that we’re not the only ones fiddling around, so it’s chill… I think haha.

  • I agree 100% with you. But I must admit, I abuse it and it’s an actual problem. It has affected me mentally and physically (won’t get into much detail here, but I get crazy withdrawals after masturbating, more often than not I physically feel uncomfortable if I’m not touching myself, even if the activity that I’m doing is not sexually arousing in any way, I am tired everyday all the day etc). I don’t have a problem with the act itself, but with the addiction. It’s a problem that I’m willing to solve tho.

  • Islam gives you a source of answers about meaning and morality, if you accept it’s core claims (an assumption I’ll touch on in a bit). While reason is valued in islamic thought, in the way I see it, it works alongside revelation rather than serving (or trying to serve) as the only final authority. On the other side, contemporary thinkers use reason, evidence and argument; they might simply decline to treat revelation as authoritative unless it can be, kinda, justified. In other words, Islam offers a more unified framework if it’s revelation claims are true (which, as far as I’m concerned, can neither be proved or disproved in any way by using more, let’s say, scientific methods, at least in 2026). When it comes down to assumptions, ‘‘secular epistomologies’’ also start from them (such as what counts as knowledge etc). The comparison really comes down to which starting points are best supported and what each can explain.

P.S. also, they don’t have to always contradict each other
