Well they think the world will end before the next election, so they have no other choice.
If only they had not told people to not cry wolf.

In September 2024, OpenAI had posted a graph showing their new o1 Strawberry model needed exponentially more training for small linear improvements — even on their own pet benchmarks.
Which iirc was also predicted by actual scientists before (I don’t not have an actual paper however).
There you go. Trump can do this job too.
Why do we even need AI? Just ask Trump.

Gotta hand it to the writers of this season of America. I didn’t expect the Sanders turns into a Strasserite twist.

This comment is a bit funny (I know it wasn’t about him) considering that Musk hates the idea of O’Neill cylinders for some reason. (It is either because Bezos introduced him to the idea, or that they are not called Musk/X cylinders. See this 2019 article about it (ignore the billionaire fellating tone)).
The whole ‘going to a place even harder’ falls flat a bit depending on which you think is harder.
Not that it matters, as they don’t really seem to care about space at all. See how after the trip with Bezos William Shatner got all depressed about how little Bezos seemed to care, and how he just wanted to spray champagne over women, or how Musk is now obsessed with other toys and racism.

If you are going to be the pro bono (really you are doing it for free?) devils advocate, at least be right.
But yeah the devil has enough lawyers already.

And tbh, I think ‘rolling over an putting legs in the air’ is not a bad sign of the machine being in trouble. Seems like a clear ‘something is wrong’ state you want your bot to go into.

So the news is now filled with stories about how AI will take over and the Ai companies might lose control of it gets smarter and at least one employee quit because it might kill us all. You know what I seem to be missing?
Actual employees doing sabotage. That is a bit odd right? They think Altman doesnt care about safety, but nobody has tried to wipe the backups. And we know they dont think that much about security.
And it isnt like sysadmins messed with systems in the past over lesser disputes.
Not even a “im turning whistleblower, here are all the internal chatlogs and documents of the employees and management”.
