I started using Linux for the first time this week after seeing all the linux memes on Lemmy and alot of help from me girlfriend, so hopefully it will be a year of the Linux for me!

I think a lot of people don’t know what co-ops are. I have been pretty left leaning my whole life and I only found out co-ops in my late 20s and the majority of people I talked to in real life have no idea what coops are. And from that few that do know, many dont know how big cooperatives can be.

I wish I could say all of Addis is like this but it’s not. The city started doing a lot of construction for better pedestrian and bike lanes earlier this year, which is where these bike lanes were built. The construction is ongoing but it seems like they’ve abandoned the bike lanes for some reason. The current bike lanes only cover a very limited segment of the city

Non technical person here, I would love to hear more about how decentralized (or not decentralized) the Bluesky protocol is compared to ActivityPub

Do we know if its the same people? I imagine that some people went to Mastodon and some to Bluesky, and very few use both

This seems like a good thing. To repeat what someone on here said, even if its not fully enforceable by the companies, it will be good way for parents to prevent their kids from being hooked on socials at a young age

I used to meditate alot and it has helped, using headspace in the beginning but I stopped some years ago. On the bright side I overthink much less than before but meditation couldn’t hurt and would probably help

Mostly on Lemmy. I’m on Mastadon too. I don’t know if YouTube counts but I’m on there as well and is the only corporate social media I use consistently.

I find myself using Instagram more but only following a handful of creators, I don’t post or check on my feed. I deleted my Twitter and LinkedIn but can’t get myself to delete my Meta accounts because of the people that I have contact with on there. I hardly contact ppl but the sentimentally of the connections is something

I’ve been using DDG for the last few months and it is also bad anything map related or at localizing things (DDG also bad with news, it reverts to MSN alot as a news aggregator) )I will have to use Ecosia to real compare the two but their tree planting idea has made curios enough to try it. Just watched the video. Couldn’t agree more and suprised I hadn’t noticed this earlier. The one time I noticed it happening was when watching Black Panther and wondering why Killmonger started becoming illogical and erratic after he legitimately won the throne.

I haven’t seen Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but unless I am missing some context, the line in the video here when falcon says “when things get better for one group, things always get worse for another” is just crazy! Especially having Falcon say it is even more crazy
