Facial recognition should never be a basis for arrest. It should only ever be used to narrow results and point an officer down a path to get concrete evidence. Facial recognition algorithm output should not be admissible as evidence.

It’s individuals versus complex organizations and systems designed by the powerful. The blitz of complex systems is designed to disconnect and distract. Tax code, investing, politics, insurance, legal - everything is so complex to advantage the powerful with the means to maneuver and manipulate the systems. I think people are drowning to keep up in the maelstrom of things competing for attention. The disconnection and distraction is by design.

To go deeper - I would say stealing labor is what the powerful have always done. They found a new way to steal it, but it’s the same old playbook. We create, they take the majority of the value generated and act like they’re doing us a favor. Power is a parasitic enterprise.

Intellectual property is a fairly recent concept and a lot of the information stolen does not impact the deceased people who created it’s lives or older work that was mostly already compensated in the past era. This makes the impact much smaller in my opinion - not to say it’s not also very impactful. Slavery has been stealing labor for all of human history.

Imagine the pettiest you have ever felt towards someone in your life - an X who hurt you, a friend who betrayed you, etc. Now imagine that is the drive behind your entire personality - pure narcissistic greed and envy. That’s who Trump is. Anyone who can’t or won’t aggrandize or flatter him is an enemy.

I think it’s likely aliens exist, but unlikely any alien species will be what we expect. I highly doubt we will see humanoid “little green men” or anything like the majority of science fiction portrays. Each planet is vastly different in just our solar system. The vast differences in environments across the galaxy will yield vastly different paths of evolution. We are only looking for “life” that fits our narrow definition based on Earth’s species - we have likely already missed signs of alien life.

The 1 in 3 are “god fearing” Republicans I’d wager. I still hear people who acknowledge the climate being different but swear we aren’t causing it. 🤦‍♂️

Replacement rates is a capitalist concern. For the way humans over consume and destroy the environment - lowering population is good. We have technologies to pick up the slack of labor lost. This is a non-issue except to the owner class who want prop up their ever expanding economies delusion.

Having children is biologically safest for parents and children at younger ages. Having children young isn’t the issue. Having a system that hoards wealth for a master class at the expense of society is. We need to abort the billionaire class - it shouldn’t exist. Resource hoarding creates poverty.

Or maybe just off ourselves - not the planet. Ducks and dogs and such seem like they have a grip on living. It’s us who can’t just find an equilibrium with the natural world that sustains our existence. We are the psychos creating systems that destroy and oppress to appease non-biologically necessary delusions like ego.

Hate is a multi-billion dollar business in America. The capital class spends obscene amounts of money to keep people hating each other and stoke the culture war. It’s the evolution of the old school union busting on the 1900s.

I don’t think anyone not living in America understands how deeply propaganda is pushed here across media and culture. The ruling class has distorted everything so much it’s hard to have a coherent conversation with most people on real issues. The misinformation and capital class talking points are intensely deep seated.

That’s what powerful people do, they steal from everybody else. They’re parasites. Always have been. For some reason, we rarely just pinch the head off the tick.

Billionaires are societal cancer. One person should not have unelected power at the scale a billionaire does. They need to be removed.

I’m tired of this notion that society must protect children from reality. If parents want to raise their kids in stupid sheltered worlds, that’s their stupid fucking choice and should go no further than their choices for their kids. Sheltering children is a stupid concept. Parents should be explaining the crazy shit kids will see and give them a healthy way to absorb the bad in the world not trying to act like it doesn’t exist. We shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to capitulate to their idea of how a kid should be raised. I shouldn’t have to give up my privacy to prop up their fantasy. Personally, every kid I’ve seen be sheltered ends up a more fucked up adult. The world is fucked, kids should learn how to live in it.
