  • The spread of class consciousness and the organization of the masses.

No matter how bad the circumstances get, they won’t automatically and systematically arise. There will be plenty of spontaneous revolts, but as long as they are not gathered under the same flag and centrally coordinated, they will be crushed by the ruling class using the whole might of the state. It needs a vanguard party that can oppose the state of the ruling class by uniting workers’ struggles all across the country. This can only be a result of educating the masses by arming them with the right communist theory and building a fighting organization that can translate that into communist praxis, the communist party.

Or the short version: no matter how bad the objective factors get (cost of living, police brutality, endless wars), it needs the subjective factor to do the revolution (the organized proletariat under the flag of communism).

At least that’s what Lenin says

  • All of the Chinese OEMs are pretty bad with software support tbh. Here’s an overview. Especially cheap phones will get very bad software support. If you want a capable cheap phone with reliable software updates, Samsung is probably your only safe bet right now (and they’re not Chinese).

Xiaomi has recently started making some promises for software updates, but only for their flagship devices. None of the Chinese OEMs want to support their cheaper throwaway devices. Also, expect the software of many android OEMs to be riddled with crapware and ads (Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme are notorious for this). If you want good hardware with clean software and privacy a recent Google Pixel flashed with Graphene OS is probably your only option.

In the end it’s still a capitalist enterprise you’re “supporting”, they all want the most of your money for the least amount of work done on their part.

  • Is it really that important to know whether or not Russia is imperialist right now to analyze the nature of this conflict? Russia is a capitalist bourgeois state and given the right conditions and opportunity it will become imperialist since imperialism is just the eventual higher form of capitalism. Additionally I do think that this current conflict is very much imperialist in nature. The very reason for this war is to secure the Russian territory from encroachment of western influence and militarization, i.e. the territorial division and redistribution of the world among the big capitalist powers. In the case of Ukraine this redistribution has been going on since 1991 and it’s only now escalating because Russia has become increasingly powerful and is in a position to fight back.
