lameidunnowat@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?2·2 years agoGenerally all of them. Every time I consider this question about an artist, I try and consider if I was the victim in the crime. Would I be okay hearing, seeing, or listening to this any longer? If the answer is no, then it’s no for me.
I want to live empathetically and have to put my money where my mouth is.
lameidunnowat@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?1·2 years agoI listened to the podcast. The interviewer doesn’t challenge Rowling at all and simply lets her speak/answer with her incorrect assumptions. However it also shined a light on how badly thought out her ideas are and how informed she is, not by empathy, but by her own prejudice. After listening, I became even more confident in my opinion of Rowling.
I also think it’s worth a listen is you can swallow your bile for the first few episodes.
So much good advice! Thank you all so very much and I’ll try to keep it all in mind. I’m already in love and am still a bit giddy. I really appreciate all of the kind words.
