Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What communities DON'T you want to see here?
0·22 hours agoThe best thing about Reddit is that it lets you mute any community you don’t like, and you can even block notifications and your timeline from giving you recommendations or suggestions altogether. So honestly, with all these features, Idk how anyone could still have a problem with certain communities existing!

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is Japanese (language) popular than Mandarin for weebs? (Besides Anime)
2·2 days agoHonestly, I don’t see any reason for weebs to like the Japanese language other than their love for Japanese anime, which is immensely popular. I actually have a close friend who speaks Japanese sentences, even though the language is completely different from our language, and learning any language, especially Asian ones, is very difficult! But being passionate about a language and surrounding yourself with it makes it much easier.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you or an elder relative you know were financially scammed, how did it start?
0·6 days agoThere’s no way for a person to learn other than making a lot of errors, or talking to people who got scammed to understand how it happened. As long as we’re alive, until we die, we’ll keep learning.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it okay to have more than one account on here?
1·7 days agoIf you haven’t been banned from the community, this is not a ban evasion, it’s avoiding the authoritarianism of an irresponsible mod who dishonestly abuses their power. This is the action I hate most in moderation, and it shows that this mod have no life!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could have any pet in the world which one and why?
0·8 days agoEven though I don’t really want to get a pet because I don’t want to get too attached and end up heartbroken when it dies! If I ever change my mind, I’d get a dog. I also really like owls in general, but I don’t want to get a bird just to keep it locked in a cage for the rest of its life!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did you ever work for a manager that treats employees like something expendable?
0·12 days agoThe manager was the company owner himself. I stayed there for about 15 months, saved up some money, and then handed in my resignation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did you ever work for a manager that treats employees like something expendable?
0·12 days agoI worked with a manager who lived by the rule “everyone is replaceable”! Whenever conflict happened between employees, he would simply let them go, or fire one of them, instead of trying to resolve the conflict, completely ignoring the team chemistry and the dynamic they had built, as well as the time it would take to hire and train someone new from scratch. Sometimes, he’d even pull someone from a completely different department just to fill the gap. He didn’t believe in specialization at all! To him, anyone could be dumped into any position, it’s as simple as that!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How has cancel culture affected you personally?
0·12 days agoI disagree with you. Censorship is very important in many cases because things can be said that might cause disasters, so we shouldn’t be tolerent or lenient with them.
In Egypt, for example, an author named Farag Fouda was killed in the 90s by a citizen after hearing a Sheikh called for his death! And incidents like these have been repeated many times all over the world!
At the same time, we must set a clear boundary that, once crossed, an individual gets punished, so we do not equate someone anti-Semitic and anti-Black with someone who says he is gay and presents progressive ideas in his songs!
Also, education is important, but enforcing strict laws acts as a deterrent and increases society’s protection against horrible hate crimes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How has cancel culture affected you personally?
0·12 days agoWow! I just googled these two bands and found out why they were canceled. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to reach that point. I know a Lebanese band called Mashrou’ Leila that was banned from entering Arabic-speaking countries because they support homosexuality, and even the band’s lead singer came out as gay himself. So the reasons for cancellation here and there are vastly different, lol.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would you think more of a President or Leader, if they did something bad, then said yea I screwed up but we are going to fix it, then fixed it?
10·12 days agoAdmitting a mistake and fixing it generally earns respect, whether you are a leader or not. But that mistake shouldn’t have led to something horrible, like someone’s death, and we must make sure that it was unintentional!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does it seem like religious people are less animal friendly?
0·15 days agoI think this is because many religions convince their followers that they are the center of the uni, and that the sun, mountains, animals, and birds were all created to serve them. In contrast, non-religious people are much more likely to see the bigger picture, that they are simply part of nature.
Also, some religions like Islam for example, treat dogs as something to be avoided. For example, there’s a Hadith that says: “Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture”! So that is the case with Islam, since I come from a Muslim background.
The entire r/Lemmy has been banned too!

Honestly, I didn’t know that there was a limit! That’s going to be annoying for people who don’t want to see certain subreddits, but at the same time don’t want to isolate themselves like me!
