Are you 100% sure that happened because of the people pushback?

Personally I would ban these if I could. Yes, people are upset. No, nothing’s going to change.
If you want Apple to hear us, you need to be loud.
Apple has never cared about vox populi being proud of “we know what our customers want”.
in the Apple Store they can do it for you.
No, they cannot. Your only chance is to get a new watch and hope to still get it with WatchOS 9.
The watch can detect when you fall asleep right?
Not really. The watch knows when you’re relaxed and immobile, it doesn’t meant that you are asleep / napping. The other way is true as well - you could be tossing and turning but still asleep and benefit from in-sleep recovery.

1·2 years agoAfter WatchOS 10 I’ve even created a shortcut to quickly toggle AOD and put it into Smart Stack, otherwise there’s a high chance my launch day S8 won’t last through the day with my regular workout schedule.

Apple@hardware.watch•Do Apple Watch reminders to stand have scientific backing for improved health?English
1·2 years agoThe idea is not really to make you stand (it’s scientifically proven that both sitting all day and standing all day is bad in a different way), the idea is to get you moving, because what is clearly bad for you is keeping the same posture for a prolonged amount of time. Other devices call the same feature “Move alert” and not a “stand alert”
JustPressRecord lets you start the voice note by pressing a complication and will automatically convert your speech to text afterwards.
I like it. Easier to access control center with a button press regardless of where in the watch you are (swipe from the bottom only worked for me on the watchface, never in apps).
Stacks are nice and they let me use less “complicated” watchfaces without the feel of missing out on functionality. Though I’d love to be able to set up different stacks per watchface.
I do believe if you restore from Icloud or factory reset you have to update the watch because it has to be re-paired.
As long as your WatchOS version is supported by your iOS version, you don’t need to upgrade even if you unpair and re-pair the watch

1·2 years agoVery old Belkin 2-in-1 charging stand (with built-in Apple Watch charger and Lightning for the phone) from 2016. Just recently replaced it with BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1

Apple@hardware.watch•The Watch Ultra Pro Max battery last for upto 7 daysEnglish
1·2 years agoReminds me of an old sketch that goes like this:
Late nineties, the guy A is sitting on a park bench. Suddenly his friend B approaches and shows A his cool new watch that can do a lot of cool tricks (like voice assistant, weather etc - so a staple for modern smartwatches). A is amazed and eventually convinces his friend to give the watch to him. As A is about to run away, B stops him, telling that A forgot the batteries and points out at two large (and obviously heavy) suitecases B was lugging around.
There are apps (like TrainingPeaks and WorkoutHub) that allow you to create workouts on the phone / on the web and import them onto the watch

1·2 years agoApple Watch isn’t doing anything different
Except keeping a constant connection with your phone, pinging all kinds of internet services for updates, running microphones for noise level detection and Siri and a thousand other things that need a high-powered custom SIP.

Apple@hardware.watch•Control Center Just Opens Only Via Power ButtonEnglish
1·2 years agoThis is one the design changes introduced in WatchOS 10. There’s even a tutorial for those changes after the update.
Charge/update before the bed. Even with a “slow” charger it takes 1.5 hours max. With the fast charger that time is cut by half.

Apple@hardware.watch•Apple Watch Ultra 1 and 2 BrightnessEnglish
1·2 years agobrightest display ever on an Apple Watch
The marketing isn’t wrong, they just omit the fact that you need very specific conditions to benefit from the brighter display.
Depending on the depth.
For shallow water (up to 10 meters) you will be fine with any model, if you go deeper, you’ll need an Ultra, as the regular one doesn’t have enough protection.
Plus - you won’t get any depth data from a regular watch as it lacks the corresponding hardware.
