We get yellow jackets in our yard every summer and I used to destroy them all on sight but I always felt so bad about taking out entire families with chemical warfare so I’ve switched to a live and let live strategy the last few years. They are chill and we’ve only had one sting in those years and I think that was just an unfortunate accident with my youngest stepping on one and pissing it off. I still have several cans of spray so if they break the treaty then I’m ready to go to war, but for now we’re able to cohabitate.

3·19 days agoMy group left about 5 years ago (give or take a couple) when there was a hostile takeover of freenode. I haven’t really looked into it at all since then, is freenode back or where did everyone move to?

4·2 months agojust finished act 1 of Clair Obscure this morning. I’m still not sure how much i enjoy the gameplay but the story definitely has me confused and wanting to know more. The battle mechanics are cool but i feel like i’m too dumb to really be good at figuring out good synergies. so far i’m not a huge fan of the map exploration but it’s getting easier to find my way around now.

1·2 months agoOh man, the song for the Ludwig fight is so awesome. It’s been years since I’ve played but I still jam that track quite often.
Ahh okay. I guess I’m too old (or ignorant) to recognize the child actor, I thought it was just some generic happy kid. I also had no idea about the high prevalence of people transitioning during that time. I’ve officially become the old fogie who isn’t hip to the times, dagnabit!
I need this one explained to me… Did something happen in March 2025? Why are there two different versions of the same joke? Or is it all one big joke? I know the second frame in the first joke is a guy from the fallout show but I don’t understand what it means in this context. What is the person in the second joke, just a generic trans person? I also don’t understand what that has to do with COVID. Maybe I’m just dense.

News@lemmy.world•Live: Shots fired involving federal law enforcement in Minneapolis
2·2 months agoI bet the same people saying the shooting was justified also believe Ashley Babitt was just peacefully touring the capital.
The article says they are NOT infected. It does say “aggressive” but doesn’t seem to expand on that.
Despite reports initially suggesting that the monkeys were carrying infectious diseases - including hepatitis C, herpes and Covid-19 - Tulane University, where they were being housed, denied that was the case. “The primates…aren’t infectious. We’re actively collaborating with local authorities & will send a team of animal care experts to assist as needed,” the university wrote.

2·5 months agoI cancelled Spotify a few months ago when King Gizzard left and brought to my attention how scummy Spotify is. I guess I should’ve known before but I never really thought about it. I tried Tidal and Deezer for free trials and think I’m sticking with Tidal. The biggest issue I have with the switch is Spotify integration with Amazon Alexa was really good as well as having a PS5 app. I’m not opposed to getting rid of the Alexa but haven’t looked much into the market. Are there any good alternatives to Alexa that can play music and do grocery lists since that’s mainly all we use it for?

4·5 months agoI just finished (rolled the credits) Death Stranding last night after right around 100 hours play time. I wasn’t so sure about it going in but the gameplay loop of delivering packages really hit well with me. I thought the random boss encounters were a bit clunky but luckily they were pretty easy. I’m guessing that was by design since it’s not really a combat game overall. The story is confusing as hell and I’ll probably spend some hours watching YouTube videos trying to understand what happened.
I may end up going back to do more road building and stuff in Death Stranding but I’ll be starting RE Village tonight for my “Spooktober” game. I love the rest of the series and finally picked this one up on a recent sale so I’m excited to get into it.

2·6 months agoI’ve beaten all the souls games multiple times but I got stuck in DD pretty early on and just quit out of frustration. I’ve been meaning to go back but I do think it actually is that hard.

4·6 months agoI’ve been really digging Death Stranding. It’s kind of a silly concept of just delivering packages all over the map but it seems to be scratching some itch I didn’t even know I had. I like that I can pick it up for a delivery or two as my real life schedule allows and then randomly sometimes I actually progress the story or unlock a new tool to make my courier job easier. I’m only vaguely aware of the story but it’s enough to get me to actually watch the cutscenes even if I’m confused the whole time.
Overall I’d recommend at least trying it out for a few hours since it’s one that I never thought I’d enjoy but I’ve been proven wrong.

2·8 months agoI decided to take a break from BG3 and started playing the first Death Stranding. I’m still pretty early in the game but it’s already got me intrigued. The story is way out there and I hope it all comes together to make sense at some point.

3·8 months agoI finally got Mario Kart 8 on the switch. It’s a blast playing with my kids and showing no mercy 😈.
I also installed the Jupiter Hell Classic demo (a demake of a remake of a roguelike unmake of Doom.) I enjoy it but similar to Jupiter Hell I’m pretty terrible at it so far. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a roguelike fan. You can play the original unmake DRL (Doom: the roguelike) for free, or also try the demo for JHC on steam.

2·9 months agoI just got a psvr2 and picked up Arizona Sunshine remake. It’s really cool so far except I die so often because I just cannot get the hang of manually reloading the clips. Half the time I just toss the clip on the ground and the other half I toss the gun down. I hope I’d do better if there was ever an irl zombie takeover.
What is a chud? I’m guessing it’s a play on the term Chad?

2·1 year agoI’m still playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for the past several months, over 100 hours in and barely in act 2, such a huge game.
I also finally got around to actually digging into Factorio last week and I think it may become a new addiction. I’m still early game trying to figure out how to make green science more efficiently and also gotta rebuild a portion of my factory after getting attacked last night. I might start a new save with no enemies to get a hang of the factory part in peace.

I feel like so many people aren’t necessarily ignorant to the problems, we just don’t know what to do about it. I keep seeing posts suggesting Americans are supposed to be uprising but by doing exactly what? I don’t want to be defeatist, but I legit don’t know what the plan is supposed to be. Voting doesn’t seem to be working, and apparently it’s going to be even less effective soon.
