  • Indeed, and losing plus being unable to accept that you are a loser is what seems to drive them. I have no doubt he would fully enjoy dictatorship if he were able to successfully obtain it but let’s be real, there are plenty of stories of leaders who want to be dictators and who try and fail. Napoleon is a great example. Although I guess it depends what you consider failure at fascism… Is there a set amount of time one has to control a nation? Personally I would say success is gaining power over a nation and remaining in power until you die and then successfully passing rule to your designated heir. That would mean Napoleon, Hitler, Saddam… all failures. Successful dictators? The Kim family. Stalin. Castro. Tons and tons of others, not going for an exhaustive list here. Another measure of success I suppose is how much harm does the dictator cause while in power? By that measure, Hitler would be a dictator and Trump I guess would be too. I think it all comes down to how can we mitigate the damage while he’s here, get him out as quickly as possible and then endure his ideology does not persist after he’s gone. We’re not doing so great on the first two but I am pretty confident the third will be easy because he is self-destructing spectacularly right now.

  • They can certainly keep trying loopholes and no question he has been allowed to get away with way more than any citizen, let alone president, should. But this is ‘Better Call Saul’ style lawfare, it seems very clever and kind of shocking that he can get away with it but gravity always kicks in eventually. His former biographer Michael Wolff has spent a shitload of time w him and I think correctly has said Trump is not some kind of evil genius, he’s not Hitler he is a Hitler FAN, and thus, quite stupid and quite crazy. He is chaos. And while you can get by on that for a little while, eventually it collapsed and everyone associated with him ends up dragged into the abyss. It’s possible he may walk away or pass away or whatever without consequences but make no mistake… He is and always has been, a deeply damaged and mentally ill person who cannot help breaking everything he touches. This guy burned away his dad’s fortune, self destructed a reality TV dynasty, served as president and STILL managed to become the first president to be charged w a felony and then he ran on exposing a pedophile network that HE WAS INVOLVED IN. Do the math man, apples still fall from trees and Trump ain’t magical. We may be about to witness the most spectacular and public failure in human history.

  • Idk man I mean theft was almost certainly part of the process as was annihilating win-win programs that were mandated by congressional act and that most Americans would probably support if they actually took a second to understand them. So to that effect, sure they achieved those goals. But I do not for a second buy that an egomaniac like Musk was happy about walking away without anything even close to his professed goal. Occams razor? He thought all government workers are stupid and he would walk in there and ‘show em how it’s done’ he would have loved to have that dashboard show a trillion in cuts and everything to be working better in his opinion plus those other goals, etc. instead he walked off with a black eye and everyone laughing at him behind his back. That gives me no comfort because the damage was so bad and he will never admit he f’ed everything up but it was a major self own by Trump admin. That first 100 days was their chance to actually overthrow the govt and the original plan for Russ Vought to dismantle the beurocracy. Musk handling instead caused so much chaos is probably saved our country.

  • Ya i mean i’ve been off social media and youtube for years and still get targeted advertising until i started using proactive privacy measures. So i would not bet against you.

I think you’re probably right too. A lot of this shit sounds scary but as we can see, these tech overlords are exceptionally well-funded but equally delusional about what they can accomplish.
