From what i’ve pieced, an argument that got out of control because everyone is on absolute defcon 5 due to america going insane.

Which i totally get. I’ve seen more than a few people being blithe about this at people who live or have experience closer to the edges of society and honestly that’s not a kind or smart thing to do.

I thought as much. What is happening in the US should be lesson for people here as to what not to do. Sadly, there are plenty who think that is the right direction to take.

Just yesterday I saw dome dork in a MAGA hat in my neighbourhood. My initial reaction is punch someone line that in the throat (had family that died under Nazi occupation), however the best thing to do is ignore their colours and educate others.

For now at least. I have a feeling that the high ground will not be option much longer. Really hope our leaders and media call this shit out for what it is.

Nah fam, totally throat punch the cunt.

(Not looking forward to this. My in laws are musk worshippers. We could gingerly avoid the subject when he was a kholed idiot talking shit, but since afd and now the salute a line has been crossed)

I knew the election had a very heavy emotional effect on some here.

We and the world survived his previous stint in the Oval Office. We’ll make it again.

The world has survived a lot of things. We’ve also lost a lot of things we shouldn’t have doing so.

I know you mean well, but be careful. Saying something like that to someone who’s literally a cunthair from being rounded up really doesn’t’ come across as anything other than toxic positivity.

I wasn’t quite sure if I should have said anything or not and even trying to be well meaning it’s being taken quite negatively so I’ll go back to staying quiet about it.

Everyone’s at peak shaved monkey touchiness (to quote pratchett) 'cos it absolutely fucking sucks. It’s insane.

Don’t be quiet. Let people know you’re there for them. Let them know you don’t think this is ok. Let them know you think it sucks and you hope there are better days ahead - but yeah, be aware that platitudes can sound so, so hollow right now.

think you might be underselling it. I think a fairer assessment is some people got attacked.

Lets just revist our rules shall we:

We might not agree about everything, but we always strive to stay civil and respectful.

I probably am underselling it, I didn’t see it all, just a few bits that are still up.

same, I don’t really see there was any bad comments

            but here’s the thing

if people aren’t angry and motivated in this world then that’s a problem

we just have to be civil working together to try to sort if out and see what we can do

The comments I saw were fairly serious directed attacks towards another user, even if they were in the heat of the moment.

There was enough to understand why the user deleted their account in the moment, I had to consider permaban before settling with a tempban on just this occasion.

I’ll tell you what happened. Spud took offense to something Baku said. Baku wanted to know what it was that was offensive. Spud launched an attack. Baku retaliated. Shots were fired from both sides about what one should be allowed to post. More shots and then Baku deleted his account.

Wait, what? I guess that explains why Baku messaged me out of the blue last night. It must have been just before he deleted his account.

I’ve been too busy at work; I missed everything. Nobody reported anything though - I would have seen that.

Hrm, he’s nuked his account entirely this time, not simply marked it as deleted. That means that all the posts/messages he’s created over 18 months are deleted from the database. Which will include many daily threads.

Not sure what I think about that. I think I’ll go for a run and ponder stuff.

I didn’t see anything since I was away doing movie time.

Only came back to the aftermath of it.

Not entirely sure how bad it was.
