The US military in its current state is not invading Europe. Only being annoying. Invading Europe you are looking at millions of dead Americans, possibly tens of millions.

It has been decades. You could pick multiple points in US history that started tipping dominoes in this direction, but we can primarily thank the Reagan administration for where we are now.
