Pipewire has fixed pretty much every audio problem I’ve had across both Linux and windows. Pair that with qpwgraph for a gui for controlling input and output flow, and you’re in easy to fix audio city, baby.
Nicely done.
Much better
😭👍
This is a retake of my other meme as my original had an AI image that I was unaware of.
I’m getting old and soon I’m gonna get scammed by AI. I CAN FEEL IT! I can feel it about to happen!
I’m getting old and soon I’m gonna get scammed by AI.
I’m in my mid 40s and this terrifies me, honestly. I’ve seen a lot of images people point out are AI and don’t notice it until later. Some are super obvious, but others I might never notice (and doubly so if I don’t stop to actually examine all the details of every image I see and who has time for that?)
Every time I see this meme posted, it has a different and new version of this image. It’s part of the fun!

I saw this Ai image meme previously. And it didn’t catch my interest. It just didn’t click. The text was there, the he-man. But the sound wasnt playing in my head. It was dead silent. Now I see this new take with a capture from the heyaheya he-man youtube parody with a real guy I saw some years ago and the sound came. I had the music in my head, and some images flashback. Ai don’t have feeling. They’re just bland, like an ice-cream without the cream. Just ice.
You know what’s worse? After finding out that image was AI, I then found out a content creator I enjoyed was AI and stealing work from an Italian artist.
Unc really is about to get scammed, gamers.
redemption arc?
Smiled when I saw someone de-slopped the meme, smiled even harder when I saw the same OP
You love to see it
When everyone struck so hard under neverslop banners, I was kind of afraid folks will alienate an awesome poster.
Glad to see you taking it the right way! :)
Bless you for doing it non-AI
I said Hey! What’s going on?
And I say, hey hey, hey hey

Stupid sexy Skeletor…
MYAAH
Put your nerdy where your mouth is!
I just installed mint on my girlfriend’s 2015 MacBook. Everything works except for the audio. I haven’t started troubleshooting yet because it was just installed last night.
Save me time—how do I fix it?
First thing to check is Alsamixer. Get on that mfugging terminal and type in
Alsamixerand then hit the F6 key to check if Mint was just being weird and muted anything. I had that happen to me a few times where it muted headphones or speakers on its own.If that alone doesn’t work, it can help to check if wireplumber and be sure this is enabled.
systemctl status --user wireplumber.serviceIf it isn’t enabled, then run
systemctl --user start wireplumber.serviceAnd if none of that worked, I did find Pavucontrol worked pretty amazingly for me. I just downloaded it and it just worked to just
sudo apt install pavucontroland then ran
pavucontrol &Lemme know if any of this worked. Since you JUST got it, I don’t think it’s anything too crazy.
Static causes my speakers to stop:
systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulseI use this a lot
What MacBook and distro? I had my 2015 MacBook Pro audio work out of the box with Ubuntu 6 years ago when I installed it. The only thing that didn’t work right away was the webcam
Dear audio support thread
How do I get the headphones and line out to function on the x870 MSI tomahawk in pop os 24.04
Line out is not shown as a separate device to headphones jack
TAKE A DEEP BREATH! Take a deep breath! It’s okay! I’m a trained professional!
Aight first, LISTEN TO MY VOICE, first we’re gonna wanna open the terminal and type in
Alsamixer. Now the problem is that x870 has multiple audio devices! Some might be named something like 'USB Audio" or even “Realtek ALC[numbers]”Try to find a setting called “Auto-Mute Mode” and disable it!
If this doesn’t work, the good news is like Mint, Pop!_OS also uses Wireplumber! Open up Pavucontrol, which I think Pop!_OS just comes with or at least my friend told me it did, go to the Configuration tab, find the USB Audio tab, and change the profile to “Pro Audio” and then wait a bit and then switch it back to “Analog Stereo Duplex”! This works because it just works.
Lastly it could be a bios thing. Get into the BIOS, go to settings, then advances, and then find the Integrated Peripherals and ensure that the HD Audio Controller is enabled.
And if none of that works, it could be that Wireplumber is borked up and I have what is called a pro-gamer move. On Mint, this ALWAYS works!
systemctl --user stop wireplumber.servicerm -rf ~/.local/state/wireplumbersystemctl --user start wireplumber.serviceTake it easy, gamer.
So, someone got a good room reader (as in balancing speakers with pulse)? About to do it again.
What’s going on?
I pray, oh my doug, and I pray, every single day, for a revolution.
Did you mean oh Magog? Because you shouldn’t ignore the one true doug
Uh oh, that’s an embarrassing mistake on my part. Will try harder next time.
Hey Mr audio, I changed one of my Recording Devices in my Sound - System Settings from Analog Stereo Input (I think lol) to Pro Audio (for the lols) and it completely removed itself from the list… I have no idea where it went or what to search because I don’t really know what I did
So, I’m actually able to reproduce that and then had to fix it myself. 😅
The “Pro Audio” profile seems to be a PipeWire thing: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/wikis/FAQ#what-is-the-pro-audio-profile
I’m guessing, the recording device doesn’t like that profile and just crashes right away. And when it has crashed, it won’t show up in the list of available devices.
Now, how is that profile remembered even when the device disconnects? Apparently, a component called “WirePlumber” is responsible for that.
And it stores this information in:~/.local/state/wireplumber/default-profileIf you don’t mind losing your profile selection for other devices, you can just do:
mv ~/.local/state/wireplumber/default-profile ~/.local/state/wireplumber/default-profile.oldand then do a reboot.
After the reboot, your recording device should be back.If you do mind losing the other profiles, then make a backup of that file and try to remove lines related to your recording device, and again do a reboot to test it.
For me, it was a device which had both input and output, and I had to remove both lines before it recognized it as unconfigured.that worked, thank you very much!
I have another audio question that I will probably make a post later in a help community but on the off chance you may know… I want to connect my headset mic and desktop mic to a combined input jack/device/whatever that I can use for discord etc so when I walk away from my computer I can flip down my mic on my headset and still yap… I’ve tried searching and youtube but haven’t had much luck… qpwgraph also shows my headset is mono which could be an issue? /shrugSo, I’m not actually that deep into audio, but I believe, you need to do this: https://superuser.com/a/1827716
Direct link to the Wiki as well, in case superuser.com evaporates: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/wikis/Virtual-Devices#combine-source-selected-channels-and-sources
So, this will create a virtual audio device. And I’m guessing, you’ll then be able to select that as your microphone of choice in KDE’s sound settings.
I haven’t experienced any audio issues in many moons… like long enough ago I can’t remember… I know they were an issue 20 years ago… but wouldn’t say they were 5 years ago… of course I stopped distro hopping as often… and as I typed this I realized I still have an audio problem heh. Sometimes after a pause my audio comes back at a lower level for a few seconds until it fixes itself.
What about bluetooth audio?
Had to install a single package once to get it to connect more reliably but otherwise no issues.
I still have the problem of audio delayed start.
After a while, of I start anything with audio whether it’s an mp3 file, a video file anything on the browser, whatever, there’s always like a whole second of delay before the audio starts
This drive me insane when I’m song audio editing.
I found this problem across all Linux distros. And this problem started happening in the last few (maybe 5?) years as far as I’ve noticed.
If you have a fix for that, that would be great.
But I was told that Linux has never had any audio problems and I was completely imagining all the ones I thought I had.
Basically 100% of my problems since switching to linux have been audio related.
Oh wait I mean no, gaslighting isn’t real you made it up because you’re crazy
