In legal terms this is “double jeopardy” and it’s 100% fair play
No.
That’s not how it works at all.
Right, that’s when a husband and wife can’t be charged for the same crime
You can’t be tried twice for the same crime, but you can be tried for a second crime. Otherwise serial killers would be bragging about their “one weird trick”.
Yea I mean if I’m gonna do the time I should at least get to do the crime

I’ve seen that movie
So the people exonerated from DNA evidence are entitled to a rape and murder on the house?
Depends who gets it. Should be a freebee which should never be wasted
No, it doesn’t.
Good luck with that. Let us know how it works out for you.
This means they have correctly punished you for something you wanted to do anyway
Up voted for an actual unpopular opinion.
Fair.
Childish
I mean, sure. But also fair.
I mean, sure. But also fair.
Usually not.
Well, You could think of some very special situations where this leads to a fair outcome. For example when the deed was taking away something and the punishment was to take away something, too.
But in general, punishments are NOT this kind of symmettric to the deed. And then the outcome of such childish revenge isn’t fair or just to anybody.
For example, somebody has killed an old lady in a reckless car accident, the reckless driver cannot be found, you get wrongfully accused for it and put in jail for 5 years. What do you want to do for your childish revenge? Kill another old lady?
