Russia is losing roughly 25,000 troops killed every month in Ukraine while gaining little ground, according to Finland’s President Alexander Stubb.
Such a senseless tragedy, already had enough land but is greedy to cause all this suffering to take more, greedy bitch!
I’m sad for their families
I’m sad for their families
Don’t be. The families aren’t or they’d bring the war to an end, like they did with Afghanistan.
They are happy to get rid of their drunk uncles, sons, … and look forward to the compensation payouts.
You really believe this?
Putin is Death
Xi is Pestilence
Trump is War
Netanyahu is Famine
We don’t yet know who the Beast is
You really believe this?
Russia’s “deathonomics” is a widely reported (by Wall Street Journal and others) phenomenon in Russia’s poor regions.
Yeah, it’s going to take more than that to convince me that a million soldiers ALL had families that didn’t care about them or even are happy to see them die.
Now you’re going all “not all men!!”
Yeah, some of them don’t. But generally, this is something they talk about with their families before electing to go for the war.
Those who want them to live won’t let them go to die. So, those who did, are – with scarce exceptions – ones who indeed have not cared much of whether their relative will live or not.
Not not all. Why don’t you put a percentage on it. 80%, 70%? If it’s more than 10%, I won’t believe it and that’s the way facts work now. I get to choose what I believe is a fact. Or… you could provide a valid source.
Based on conversations I have had in Russian language with Russian immigrants in Finland, I would say it’s at least 80% or so.
In the end the parents of course will be devastated, but they are much more blasé about it when the agreement is being signed. It’s hard to describe this to someone who has never lived in the Russia. Or at least in Ukraine.
And more than in ww2 (if calculated to conflict scale)
If the body count is accurate (more than 1.5 million Russian casualties since 2022), I’m not sure why that isn’t talked about more in the media landscape . . .
And this month will be more like 50000 lost personnel.
The Russian losses are increasing, and their gains are decreasing. How much reliable info is there, are they managing to replace their increasing losses or are they unsustaimably losing more than they can replace?
If they are losing more then surely it would eventually get to a point when we start to see a Ukrainian breakthrough and likely even higher losses/captured.
Well, not likely a breakthrough. As we are seeing in the Russian numbers taking territories incurs more losses than defending territory. Russia is still advancing though making no significant gains.
Even with the amazing combined arms Ukraine has moving from defensive positions to offensive ones you need to outnumber the now defenders. It’s going to be hard for Ukraine to have the numerical advantage in anything more that small specific pockets of the battlefield.
A big breakthrough just isn’t in the cards until there are 100’s of thousands of robots or a country steps up with troops to support Ukraine.
If they are losing more then surely it would eventually get to a point when we start to see a Ukrainian breakthrough and likely even higher losses/captured.
I am not sure politically Ukraine would go for a massive breakthrough, maybe, but what I think is more likely is Ukraine will slice russia’s purposefully diffused offensive lines up into little pieces (since russia optimized for small unit infilitration, this is the unavoidable tradeoff, russia has no concentation of power and no authority over moving large concentrations of power), enclose them and simultaneously pull off large sections of russia’s frontline forces from the board leaving the rest in panic.
Putin has made it so he has an unlimited ability to mobilize. It’s all based on how far he can push the different means of mobilization.
Before the election they kept id “modest” at about 1000 per day, but there are speculations that Putin could be able to mobilize 500000 personnel in a short time if decides to.So Russia definitely has the means to sacrifice more if needed, the question is how much the Russian people is willing to accept. Because even with falsified information, the mobilizations and deaths and wounded can’t be kept secret forever even with the best propaganda.
I keep hoping that all we are waiting for is the straw that breaks the camels back. But although it’s been buckling for a while in many ways, it seems it simply wont quite break.Putin has made it so he has an unlimited ability to mobilize.
No, Putin is still bound to the laws of physics, russia is severely limited in their ability to mobilize and they are most limited in the roles that matter like sophisticated air defense.
No, Putin is still bound to the laws of physics,
Yes sure, but he has free reign without being hindered by Russian law as he used to be.
So now he can legally make a huge silent mobilization without opposition. But the average age in the Russian army on the front is allegedly 38 years. And that’s a pretty clear sign they are struggling to get the number of people they want.
Do we really reliably know how many they have lost or the average age? How?
Information in war is almost never 100% reliable, I don’t know where the age number came from, I just saw it reported.
The number of lost Russian soldiers should however be pretty reliable as that is published every day by the Ukrainian ministry of defense. Last I did the math it was about 960 per day. These numbers have been somewhat confirmed by a UK Institute for the Study of war, and even Pentagon although it’s a long while I’ve seen numbers from them last.
I guess the average age is also from Ukraine.I post the daily numbers here every day.
I’m not sure Ukraine is a reliable source for Russian casualties. I wonder how many Russia admits to? Yes that would also be unreliable. A third party would be best.
The reason russia is losing the landwar to Ukraine has nothing to do with how many untrained, clueless, scared infantry they have to throw away in mindless waves. Russia is no longer capable of applying artillery pressure on the frontlines without exposing the platforms it uses to do so to being obliterated. Glidebombs are russia’s last crutch to lean on but Ukraine just today demonstrated the capability to reach out and destroy russian fighterbombers on the ground, at the static infrastructure they rely on… glidebombs launched from high performance fighterbombers is a collapsing sandcastle of a strategy for russia.
Russia can’t magically turn a random person into someone capable of operating a sophisticated air defense system and actually protectly friendly airspace without shooting down passenger airliners by accident. That takes years, money and it takes a consistent supply of equipment that actually works.
Russia is fucked.
I agree, but there are political leaders that are expressing concern about it, and among those are Zelenskyj.
I have previously expressed that sending more untrained people to the front will achieve nothing, and only increase their losses.
But you have the experienced people already there, and they use these new canon fodder “soldiers” to run out to die, to reveal Ukrainian positions. It’s absolutely disgusting, but they do get some tactical benefit from these poor bastards.Yes Russia is fucked. But the war is an enormous burden and cause for suffering for Ukraine.
It would be better if Russia simply collapsed already.Yes I agree the war must stop, I do not desire endless conflict I just also realize how Putin will try to use mass terrorism against Ukrainian civilians to distract the political narrative about power balance here.
