Well, when ding-a-ling donnie is talking about it, I’m sure he has zero idea that AI is an umbrella term for several things contained within, such as ML, LLMs, generative AI, neural nets, deep learning, genetic algorithms, expert systems, etc.
It’s definitely not clear which branch he’s even talking about renaming, or if he’s talking about renaming the entire field, or if he’s claiming that the stuff talked about as “AI” now is the same as the ASI hypothesized about.

The field of research is AI, I usually use that term when referring to that, and yes, using terms like LLMs when talking about something specific like the chatbots.

Meaning they don’t expect to get AGI anytime soon. Both AGI and ASI are far beyond what we have, and frankly if we had ASI it would be in control of everything, because of the basic definition.
It’s because they sold investors on artificial general intelligence and artificial super intelligence as milestones. Now that it’s clear they’re failing to deliver, they’re moving the goalposts. Also they suck Trump’s tiny dick.
