      I lost most of my good will for Linus when he made some mistake in the past and he reacted by threatening to quit for not being appreciated enough. Monetizing this apology is hilarious and not helping.

                  I bought a screwdriver not long after the project farms video. While i enjoy and use the screwdriver (and have it packed in my suitcase currently), I’m disappointed to see LTT have fallen so far from where they used to be. I stopped watching after the “Trust Me Bro” shit (couldn’t figure out how to cancel my order, my own stupidity), and greatly missed the Scrapyard Wars days. I remember Nickie V leaving really had me questioning what was going on with LTT, and since then my attention for them has dwindled to nothing. It’s sad to see something you grew up with turn into this shitstorm, but they deserve to be in this position, if not worse, with how horrible their actions and responses have been.

      Thanks for the link. I initially linked directly to the public .mp4 video file on floatplane, but I updated the post to the youtube link once it was published. I’ll leave the youtube link in the OP as I think it’s easier, although I don’t like that they monetised the video. GN didn’t monetise theirs.

      edit: I didn’t notice at first, but having all this shit in the description is also just a bit tactless? Like, read the room guys. I know it’s probably just a default under all videos but didn’t someone think to omit it for this one?

        I dont really follow linus, mainly beceause I never really got the appeal overall. But i do play games and stuff so his content does cross my path here and there, but maybe I only see him during drama times like this. But this whole puppy dog face apology thing has to wear thin after a while…

        I mean it seems like a dog and pony show to me and I hardly ever watch his content. How many times do you have to do stuff like this, apologize, etc then rinse repeat before people start catching on.

      They won’t make a video about sexual harassment allegations. As soon as actual crimes are alleged, yiu cannot go out on a video and say anything that will help you.

      Maybe after the investigation and after a big ass settlement with the victim but even then you’d open yourself up to being sued for defamation if you name any names or even skirt around it.

      maybe a tightly controlled corporate response was exactly what they needed. Show people they can get something right over the last few days. instead they posted the email with the value of the CPU cooler that the vendor asked LTT to keep private. maybe next video they won’t make a mistake?

        The only one giving decent controlled responses here was, as I sort of expected, the new CEO. Everyone else I got the fake apology vibe, especially from Yvonne.

        Terran has his work cut out for him, and I don’t really blame him for taking 6 weeks to be a fly on the wall (it’s generally good to learn the current process before coming in and making massive changes) but this week has not been good for LMG and we will see if he manages to make something good from this experience.

        Especially things like the Madison situation. I could see him being unaware of it until now, but now it’s time to address that as well.

          Her starting out by apologizing for linus was a bad look. Linus still spent half his time trying to justify his actions. I really didn’t need to hear from the head of each department when the mistakes are clearly starting at the top. Plus they monitized it, have merch links in the bio, and plugged the store. I get the attempt at humor but plugging a product (ltt store) while you are apologizing for your product (content) is just not tasteful. I just don’t know how much they’ve taken to heart if they have this whole response ready after a day.

            The only people I wanted to hear from on this video were the new CEO, to explain the changes going forward, and maybe Linus, to give an explanation for his behavior after the GN video. I had been considering a floatplane sub and was looking forward to the noctua screwdriver, but I won’t be making either purchase now.

        Yeah I noticed that. Idk if LTT were asked not to publish it but GN did censor it. I don’t remember if they said they’d been asked to censor it or if they just took the initiative. It’s not a huge thing but it’s a bit sloppy to publish the number. As others have said, you’d think they’d want to be as clean as a whistle to prove they can do something properly, given the accusations of sloppiness

          If I were LTT, I would’ve asked Billet Labs if its okay to reveal that number (not that it’s even relevant) and if I didn’t have time to wait, would’ve erred on the side of caution.

          But like LTT said, they’re still them. So I don’t think it’ll get better going forward since they’re doing what looks to me really closely like doing whatever they can to look good despite it potentially hurting others (who they’ve already wronged).

        These suck for all kinds of reasons, but one of these definitely would have avoided the problems LMG is running into right now. I would say what they really need more than anything is a big, visible commitment to making things right for their employees - an outsider investigating sexual harassment is a start, but maybe also come out with a new less-rushed video schedule, since that’s what literally everyone working there has complained about.

    LTT has always felt too smug for my tastes. Particularly Linus himself. It’s to the point that none of the revelations coming out about LMG and their internal drama is particularly surprising. It’s exactly the kind of behavior I’d expect from a “we can do no wrong” kind of group.

        I never knew how to express that feeling where people move back and forth from capitalism and humanism. Last time it was at the eye doctor which is also a store to sell overpriced glasses. It feels fucked and makes me want to stay home.

    This should have been the first response instead of the unhinged rant Linus posted on the forum. If they actually go through with the things they said in the video and fix their workflows and communication issues this should be a big boost to LTT’s reliability as a source. Good on GN for giving Linus the reality check he desperately needed. Would have been nice to hear something about Madisons allegations, but they probably scheduled the video to go live before madison posted them. Hopefully they make a follow up video about them.

      Yeah, their assurance of “us staying us” takes a more sinister tone after Madisons tweets.

      Maybe “you being you” is the problem… problematic behavior seems to be endemic to the company culture.

      I doubt he’s screwed but I wish he was after seeing what they did to her. I remember her charisma and energy and how much she looked up to LTT and they exploited that for their own gain.

      The irony of this video being posted first to floatplane (the platform she was being made to run all by herself on top of other pressures) is the icing in the cake.

      Well, the video probably was recorded yesterday, and Maddison’s tweets came today, so it’s not like they had any control over that…

      I’d assume they’ll address the tweets in detail later, but I mean… I want them to do something before talking about it.

    None of this is surprising to me. How long has it been since Linus talked about burnout and quitting? They go way too fast paced. They’re all burning out. I look at MKBHD and they just seem so much chiller than everything at LTT.

    This is a terrible apology video, what the fuck Linus…I hope they make another video regarding the sexual assault allegations. This is just in bad taste…I mean we’re talking almost blizzard levels of sexual harassment and assault stopping short of driving someone to suicide. Fuck these guys and their channel I hope they go under and get buried.

    So many people don’t seem to realize this video was produced before the newer accusations. In my opinion, this video is fine with that context. If you’re getting mad at this video for not being anything more than a response to inaccurate data, you’re just being mad to be mad. Wait a few days to see what comes of Madison’s Tweets. Apparently, Terren has already hired a third party investigator to look into things, so I’m hopeful he’s actually taking a good approach to these new claims. We’ll have to see what happens.

      Please remember Linus knew what shit they’ve done while he was making this video. He and the company has ALL the data, we are just now learning what went on. If they will publish “honest” “apologies” to only things the public happens to learn then they are pretty much every large corporation out there.
