i made this because i wanted a quiet place to cast a reading without signing up for anything. the coin cast and all 64 hexagrams with their judgment and image are free. there’s an optional modern interpretation that uses an AI model, but you never need it.
what do you usually ask the I Ching about?
This site looks like AI slop, the writing reads like AI slop, and it sends data to OpenAI for an “interpretation”. I’m gonna say hell no on this one.
I’m dubious how much use there would be in digital iching.
Like, ignore any of the skepticism regarding divination, if divination holds water, then digital would take the human part of it out, and thus make it purely random. If it’s purely random, then it loses all value.
Digital tarot, similarly a poor candidate for digitizing.
Astrology, geomancy, even numerology, I can see being purely digital and being improved even. But the various hands-on divination methods at least partially rely on those hands as part of the process. Whether one wants to say it’s the subconscious influencing the coins/cards/whatever, or if it’s more spiritually generated, once the contact with the divination tool goes away, it ceases to be credible as divination.
It amounts to just randomly generating lines from a book.
I’m not shitting on the work itself! Looks solid in that regard. I’m just blabbering about the concept itself.
