An update, the site has been updated to remove the last paragraph, and change the title (bolded). The author is clearly trying to hide that it’s slop.

Pretty sure this is AI slop. See the privacy page (https://culdesac.site/#/privacy):
Nothing here knows who you are. Some things get counted, but only ever as totals - never as a record of you. This page says exactly what. No cookies, no accounts, nothing following you to other sites. A few things are counted as totals: a site was shown, opened or saved. Never who did it. What you save and where you’ve been are kept on your device. Every link opens someone else’s site, which has its own rules. […] Stated plainly rather than overclaimed: whatever service hosts these files may keep its own routine access logs, as essentially every web server does. That is outside this site’s control, and nothing here reads it.
I think “Stated plainly rather than overclaimed” is pretty clearly LLM copy-paste.
The user has also posted about a bunch of similar small projects in the recent future, which is also suspicious.
Thanks, looks like it’s accessible through Google Books (end of page 29).

Cool, maybe it’ll encourage them to use search engines other than Google.
Do you have a source for this quote? The only previous mention of it I can find is this unsourced Reddit post. Makes me skeptical about its authenticity.

Looks like much of the text is slop too, the groups of 3 are very common with LLMs. I certainly wouldn’t trust this service with anything of importance.

The arbitrary limit on the number of domains is what made me stop using Proton; I use mailbox.org now and haven’t had any issues with it

Been satisfied with mailbox.org as my email provider for over a year now, switched to it from Proton.

Yeah sorry about that, was the default format in my spreadsheet software and I didn’t think to change it

Yep, I cloned the git repo and wrote a script to step through commits a week at a time and count the total em dashes in the repo at each point in time

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as GNU + Linux, is in fact, Linux

The regex is to match only em dashes in comments (following a //). If you want to search for all em dashes you can just do that (though there’s no need for the -o since grep matches lines and wc -l counts lines).

$ git clone https://github.com/y4my4my4m/harmony && grep -R "//.*—" harmony | wc -l
17
17 em dashes in comments… yeah that’s slop
Happy to hear you enjoyed it (though full disclosure I did steal it)

Imo it would be awesome if every person could have only one single account. Bans and restrictions have much more impact which forces users to behave more like irl.
What about people who want to criticize their oppressive government without risk of being identified from their post history? People questioning their gender or sexuality who don’t want to come out to everyone yet? People who view or post NSFW things and don’t want it associated with their primary account?
There are plenty of valid reasons to have multiple accounts besides ban evasion.

Some modern hard drives transparently encrypt all data with an internal key, which can be erased with a special secure erase command. Comes in handy for wiping drives without spending hours overwriting the enire disk.

A cool project! Sure hope it’s not AI slop!
em dashes in code comments
sigh

Why use an if statement that compiles down to a conditional branch instruction and takes a nanosecond or two to execute, when you can outsource the decision making to a paid cloud service with expensive hardware that multiplies matrices with billions of elements to get your answer?
extrapolating from existing lemmy users, your destiny is likely to use linux, hate AI, and take estrogen
