Not to mention a partially-privatized correctional system that tries to cut costs by contracting critical rehab functions like mental health and medical services, which of course, take any opportunity to make shortcuts by provide inadequate staffing and substandard care to keep their contract bids as low as possible, while maximizing their profit off state tax dollars.
All of this in the context of a GOP-controlled correctional system that tries to keep costs as low as possible through things like early release and providing substandard rehabilitation and reintegration services during and after incarceration. They want to slash their taxes as low as possible, of course. And when things go wrong, they get to blame the Dems for it.
And of course, Trump made the decision to cut FEMA funding and not provide relief to Western NC after Helene. But as narcissists do, they deflect responsibility for their actions onto others and gaslight.

This makes total sense to me, coming from a mostly conservative family. They are so miserable and negative about everything, that negativity is how they communicate.
Their identity is based on the things they don’t like, their conversations consist of complaints and gossip, and their politics revolve around who they perceive needs to be knocked down a peg.
So I think it goes beyond them thinking he’s honest. His constant bitching, bullshitting, and punching down in place of solutions – they make him feel familiar and like he is one of them. (even though we know he hates them just as much as he hates everybody else)
