📣 It’s been a while since we’ve federated a batch of publishers — so to make up for it, here are 250, and they’re big ones.
Today, we’re bringing names like @abc, @RollingStone, @forbes, @BleacherReport, @NationalGeographic and @newyorktimes to the fediverse. They join the 174 profiles we’ve already federated, which include everyone from @19thnews to @Vox
Here’s a blogpost with more details on this latest batch of publications that cover news, business, cooking, home design, politics, sports, science and more. Follow their Magazine feeds if you’re only interested in one topic, or their whole profiles if you want the lot. The spreadsheet below lists out all federated accounts.

@[email protected] There’s something for almost everyone in there!
@[email protected] I missed many so much and think this is a good way for media to close at the crap platforms.
Just one problem: I see lots of followers but empty accounts, no posts (only the NYT has one post). Why are they empty? Is the federation too fresh?
@[email protected] You won’t see content in any of the accounts until someone from your server follows them! One tip we love is to search on Mastodon for the profile name (e.g. @RollingStone) and that will bring up a list of topical Magazines (music, TV, politics, etc) so you can follow only the things you’re most interested in.
@[email protected] I just tested it with @newyorktimes … it’s indeed this “federation too fresh” problem of the Fediverse. First I saw only 1 post. Then I followed them, a second post came in. Now, after some minutes, I see their stream. Great.
It works like this: Up from following, you see everything they post after that time. But you don’t see the posts before you followed.
Unfortunately, this happens often in the Fediverse, also with new instances. It takes some days.
Thank you for your help!
@[email protected] Of course! Happy browsing!
@[email protected] Thank you for the quick answer. This seems to be one of the weaknesses of the Fediverse. For people mostly don’t follow accounts with no posts.
I’m on one of the biggest main instances. But via the search I find a well-filled RollingStones account (unclear whether RSS or the medium itself): @[email protected]
I wait for the day when media open their own instances. But Flipboard is already a good way to make them appetite. I’ll try more …
@[email protected] With that account we see no recent updates after the beginning of this year — are you seeing the same?
@[email protected] Now as you say it: Oh yes, nothing since January. Seems to be one of these given-up projects.
