Jumping between thoughts about a bunch of things to do that each take dozens of hours is, in fact, a terrible way to be motivated to do any of them! Pick one and focus on it for a while. Start small.

Several months ago I set a goal to write 15 minutes a week. Sometimes I have failed to do even that, but now I’ve written a little 5 page short story and a blurb for an epic upcoming moment in my DnD campaign so I get my wording right. I have a few pages more of the book I want to write but that’s a project I’m building up to, not something I just decided to do.

If you didn’t care about yourself you wouldn’t bother thinking about what to do with yourself in the first place.

All that said, I’ve been so close to hiding under the couch cushions lately. I’m barely keeping up.

Don’t beat yourself up over systemic issues that are out of your control. Develop the proper ire and direct it appropriately.

I have had a boss for a while who recognizes and has embraced that with me because they’re the same way. I throw myself under the bus all the time. It makes me good at my job where being thorough and accurate is important and I take it rough when I’ve made a mistake so I make damn sure I’m not fucking up

So now I get to train people! But then I have imposter syndrome and worry I’m fucking my trainees up and teaching them wrong. Which is clearly untrue because a lot of the people I’ve trained have excelled at their job and admittedly are better than me. Which makes me feel really good!

I’m sorry about making your comment about me. I’m trying to convey the fact that (general) you are always your harshest critic but it’s a valid feeling. It at least gives you self awareness that so many people lack

It helps taking a dose of realizing no one cares. This clip struck home for me and have carried the message with me for many years:
