White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that President Donald Trump is exploring legal pathways to “deport” U.S. citizens to El Salvador, where the administration has already arranged to house deported immigrants in a prison known for its human rights abuses.

            From the dictionary: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/whore

            3. a mercenary or unscrupulous person : a person who is willing to compromise their integrity or principles for personal gain or in pursuit of something

I think you might be the only person who read the comment, and immediately think about the sexual meaning of this.

What I agree with you though, it that the term is mostly applied to women, hence why I was looking for a term that can be applied easily to men such as Ted Cruz (the master whore), or McConnell. Plenty of whoring in the Republican party males.

Its quite upsetting that when this behavior is done by males, we always try to find other slurs (sleazy etc), and when a woman do it, this one always comes out first. It should be applied equally. But that said, again, its the perfect description for what she is doing atm.

Or, I can do all you suggested, and ALSO dehumanize them with humiliating names. Republicans do it routinely, because it works, and under the present circumstances, the Resistance shouldn’t waste a single weapon at our disposal. Propaganda is a powerful weapon, and its one that we can, and should, wield ruthlessly. They certainly do, and they deserve to get it right back.

You remember the Michelle Obama doctrine - When they go low, we go high? That’s what got us into this mess. I’m long tired of being nice, or polite, especially to traitors and Nazis.

Unfortunately, they’ve made getting a passport prohibitively difficult for trans folks who have already changed their gender markers so even if countries were accepting trans asylum seekers (most aren’t) getting to and across the border has excess difficulties beyond convincing another country that your life and liberty are threatened.

Plus, by the time countries do start accepting asylum seekers it’ll be too late, boarder patrol will be detaining people before they’ll have a chance to cross.

Pretty sure Canada has been using that as reason for denials. Most of the orgs I’ve looked at don’t help trans people in the US for that reason too.

I’ll take blue state gladly, but even that’s a difficult prospect. The economics of being a despised minority which it is legal to fire, evict, (or DV lol) are very difficult - I would probably be homeless if I wasn’t very fucking good at math.

But also - anti trans movements and fascism in general are on the rise globally. There aren’t quite that many safe places to run to.

One aspect of being a gender/sexual minority versus someone being oppressed along the aspects of race, nationality status, or religion tends to be that we don’t usually have the same kinds of familial support. If I were a POC, my family and friends would probably understand my fears, validate them, and perhaps support me. Gay and trans people are born to straight and cis parents, and it’s impossible to have to explain “yes, I am currently doing sex work because my boss looked at my drivers license and decided that I shouldn’t have a job anymore.”

Moving to a new place requires support networks and communities that trans people don’t usually have.

Honestly, according the video in the article, all she said Trump has talked about was the possibility of deporting repeat violent criminals. What I don’t get, is why do you have to deport them? Can’t you just keep them in prison?

Because once outside the US, the Republican position is that they no longer have recourse to the courts. So you can hustle somebody to El Salvador really fast, and then there is nothing they can do about it.

Whereas if you put people through the usual trial process and keep them in a US prison, they can later be freed as innocent.

But, it sounds like he’s only talking about the worst of the worst. So then I assume it wouldn’t be hard to keep them in prison. Whatever, if those types are going free (which I have heard of happening), then there are other issues that should be dealt with.

Actually no. The worst of the worst stay in the US. The people they are deporting to El Salvador are mostly non-criminals or petty criminals. The actual violent criminals (the ones that are harder to control) do not make for good slaves and are kept in whatever prison they are already in.
