“I literally couldn’t have done anything!” Have those people actually thought about NOT GETTING IN THAT SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE
These exact types of players are why it is actually shittier to be IN a tank than outside of one and why everyone just plays as Engineer in Battlefield.
Also dudes who get killed 50 times in the same spot, to the same dude, who then bitch about campers. My brother in christ, you know exactly whwre they are! Flank them! Use a grenade! Literally anything other than what you keep fucking doing.
I mean Battlefield players actually have a tactically focused brain. Delta Force has a problem where NOBODY plays Engineer so sometimes I’ll spawn into a game and then see that the enemy team has TEN different vehicles on the field and are completely running over my team. And then I look in the scoreboard and there are only THREE engineers out of 32 people.
If I’m gonna be honest, gamers just seem to want a “nuh uh” button for literally any mistake they do.
If I’m gonna be honest, gamers just seem to want a “nuh uh” button for literally any mistake they do.
They should stick to singleplayer games that allow you to quicksave and load, since that’s literally what it’s for. 🤣
They’re the kid who you zorch with a laser cannon only to have them pop up and say they had a deflector shield or they dodged it when you know for a fact they already used their shield a minute ago and were standing still at the time when you lined up your imaginary shot.
If I’m gonna be honest, gamers just seem to want a “nuh uh” button for literally any mistake they do.
You could not have described Survivor players in Dead by Daylight any more accurately.
-
Got a map you don’t like? Disconnect!
-
Got a killer you don’t like? Disconnect.
-
Took the first hit of the match? Disconnect.
-
Killer downed you and left you on the ground for a few seconds while they chased the flashlight saver that was hovering nearby? Yeah, disconnect for that too.
-
Made a mistake and accidentally used Dead Hard too soon, or Dramaturgy gave you Exposed instead of Haste, or missed a single skill check? You got it, got ahead and disconnect for that.
-
Playing against Skull Merchant? Just disconnect! Completely forget that BHVR nerfed her so bad that they said it was to purposefully get people to stop playing her (which is a paid DLC character, BTW).
They disconnect at literally every minor inconvenience. Before I quit playing when the infamous The Walking Dead livestream happened where they got DDoS’d live, Survivors would quit 8/10 matches I played. Just randomly, sometimes right at the beginning, sometimes after they made a mistake or got stuck on maps geometry in a chase, sometimes after I left them on the ground for 2 seconds while I checked for a flashlight saver around the corner. Its ridiculous.
These people are so entitled that they don’t care that them quitting ruins the match for the other 4 people still in the game (or less, because when one Survivor disconnects, they all start to disconnect like schoolgirls going to the bathroom). BHVR even added an “Abandon” mechanic for Survivors, where they can just leave the match with no DC penalty if all Survivors are downed at the same time (basically when they are losing). But the same mechanic for the Killer only works when Survivors don’t progress their objective for 10 minutes or all disconnect, which is when the Killer is winning. BHVR lets Survivors quit when they are losing, but they only let the Killer quit when they are winning. Also, if all Survivors disconnect, the Killer is forced to play out the rest of the match against bots, or you have to take a loss and Abandon the game. Survivors Abandoning used to be considered a win for them, BTW, but they finally updated it to count as a loss.

Oh my god these ones drive me up the wall
Makes you wonder if you really needed to be strategic mastermind to excell on the battlefield in ye olde times. Surprisingly few people seem to have the idea to not walk straight at the enemy.
I play a lot of Squad, which is basically a more team-focused (and realistic) Battlefield. It requires much more thought, but still most players don’t need to have good strategic thinking. You just need to play with the team, and some people on that team need to think. With good leaders even bad players can be useful.
Still, even on Squad you end up with people just running straight at objectives. There’s no ideal fix for that behavior, other than changing the way objectives work and not having small areas to capture, but then what’s the goal? You have to have something to fight over.
We should stop nerfing them in real life too! The Russians can’t seem to win even once.
The only time I agree with this is with aircraft. Aircraft are extremely vulnerable to small arms fire in real life. But for whatever reason games decide they have the same health as a tank or submarine.
I mean, Battlefield usually has aircraft survive tanking a direct hit from AA rockets, which isn’t very fun to play against. It usually leads to exactly what happens when you join a BF lobby: 1 guy hogging an attack helicopter all game with a K/D of like 145/3. Even when players pick Engineer, the kits are too specialized to provide meaningful ways of dealing damage to both land and air vehicles, forcing you to generally focus on only one. Which are you going to kit for, the land battles, or that one guy that obliterates everyone when he has the heli but can’t do anything against all the other vehicles in the lobby?
easy: stop playing EA
Planetside 2 is even worse. There’s a whole AA tank turret you can unlock, and it hardly does damage to anything besides the smallest fighter, and has a spread like a blunderbus.
Infantry have an AA lock-on option that basically works only at point blank and takes a ridiculous amount of time to actually lock. Even the smallest aircraft take 3 or 4 hits to actually die, and that’s only if they don’t have fire-suppression which heals back a third of your craft’s health.
Complain about it and all the flyboys come out the woodworks crying that AA should only be a deterrence, rather than a serious threat. Oh, and skill issues (while fly boys are the ones who farm infantry by hovering above lock-on range abd spam rocket pods).
Don’t forget the freaking colossus, an unobtanium railgun which still won’t one hit liberators or composite ESFs. It’s ridiculous.
But to be fair, skill gap is a huge thing. New pilots get utterly obliterated, while skyknights or good lib/galaxy crews are basically immortal and make aircraft look a little less fragile than they are. And stuff like the A2A lockons being so mediocre doesn’t help.
Also, aircraft in Planetside 2 are all more like attack helicopters, not really “fly by” bomber-droppers like in some other games.
Flying on Planetside 2 was an exclusive club. Certain pilots would literally stop fighting each other to shit on the new guy until they give up.
Certain pilots would literally stop fighting each other to shit on the new guy until they give up.
Yeah, that was really stupid, heh.
And we use past tense, but there’s still one pretty full server to play on, right? Maybe I should play some while I still can, for nostalgia…
Yeah, agreed. The vehicle whores in BF are awful. You either get a clown driving the vehicle into the convergence of 7 AT/AA weapons and just sitting there getting everyone in the vehicle killed in 2 seconds or you get the unkillable whore who takes hit after hit after hit and won’t die. Not much in between. Really most vehicles are way over-armored in BF, one or two good AA missiles or AT hits should disable or destroy anything, but it’s a game so the vehicle campers get to do what they do.
Part of the issue is the Battlefield flight model, at least in the past, was really shitty. It was an incredibly arcady system where you really can’t travel quickly or be agile. Helicopters in real life can avoid being shot. Helicopters in Battlefield can’t, so they need to survive being shot instead.
There are better games out there that don’t have this issue. Squad helicopters can still take more shots than they should, but they can all be taken down with enough small arms fire (if you hit the right spots). The light helicopters can only take something like 3 5.56 rounds, but they’re really agile and a good pilot doesn’t get shot.
What is this, helldivers players lol
And CoD players, and Planetside 2 players, and Overwatch players, and Fortnite players…
Goddamn, Planetside 2 used to be enjoyable. I miss potent harrassers. And lightnings. Or just interesting vehicle fights in general…
Those first days, as everyone got their hands on vehicles and all the ‘tricks’ hadn’t been figured out, were so much fun. Are lightnings really trash now? There was a group of six of us that used to equip them with the anti air weapon and just wreak havoc on backlines as people flew to the frontlines.
Yeah, unfortunately. Basically, there were two changes that made them absolutely useless.
First, they nerfed harries to hell and back by removing the option to repair them from the third seat. Lots of people liked it (of course), but suddenly MBTs didn’t have any real threats anymore. You could still score a kill every now and then with a lightning by sneaking up on them from behind with the “shotgun”, but nerfing harries effectively nerfed lightnings a ton, too.
Secondly, they decided to add a new allrounder secondary gun for vehicles, which was a bit too powerful, imho. Because with one or two of those, even a goddamn sunderer was more powerful than a frigging lightning. At that point, there was essentially no reason to pull them. Well, I guess some people still used them for 18th century-style fights with two columns of vehicles shooting at one another until one side collapsed, but who cares…
Nah, Helldivers 2 has been nerfing the fun part of the game for a little under a year now. They previously did this before and then needed to put out a 60 day plan and publicly apologize because the game was becoming too unfun specifically due to weapon nerfs and enemy buffs.
Now theyre doing it again. Weapon ergonomics got nerfed to be horrible, then they added weapon customization so we could upgrade the weapon to fix the bad ergonomics. Then they nerfed ergonomics again.
Their over-adherance to Glazedivers and Redditors that don’t even play the game (or only play in 4-man squads with minimum level requirement of 150/max) saying it is too easy is ruining the game yet again. So basically, the usual that happens when a game developer listens to a tiny or non-existent audience.
As soon as devs start listening to the community for balance issues, there’s a countdown timer to the game going downhill. Users are idiots, and they can’t actually ever agree on anything either way. Letting a vocal minority guide development is always a terrible idea and has never worked in the history of game dev.
Reminds me of Hakita saying that Ultrakill would be garbage if the players were designing the game instead.
What’s wrong with the guns now? I’ve been having tons of fun in my 2-person squad. Haven’t noticed any issues with the game and it plays fine on my Steam Deck
I am highly doubtful the game runs well on a Steam Deck in any mission difficulty above 5. It doesn’t even run well on my gaming rig and frequently dips below 40fps at 1080p in Diff 10 missions. And my hardware vastly outclasses a Steam Deck.
Anyway, the guns had ergonomics nerfed before we got weapon customization. Ergonomics effects how much “lag” the gun has compared to where you are aiming. Worse ergonomics means you have to wait longer for the gun to snap to where you aim before the gun is pointing where your camera is. Weapon customization was added with options to improve ergonomics. Compare the HMG with 0 Ergo (worst in the game BTW) and the Verdict with 100 Ergo (best in the game). Aim each and watch where your circle reticle is.
About 4 months ago, the developers “nerfed” ergonomics on DMRs and other long rifles, including the Anti Materiel Rifle, Adjudicator, and Diligence Counter Sniper. Now, this was acknowledged by Arrowhead at one point as a “bug,” but it was never added to the Known Bug List. It is still present in the game, and has zero priority of being fixed. The way they are treating it, it may as well be an intentional nerf, and I consider it as such. They know about it, and have absolutely no intention of fixing it any time soon.
Some of the Silksong players too.
Wait for someone to leak the classified plans of the tank onto the War Thunder forums proving the Devs are deliberately making the game unbalanced by not including the clearly inbuilt weakness.
There was this really interesting indie game called Atlas Wept. I played the demo and it was really high-intensity fun using new and innovative systems. Loved it. But then reviewers on YouTube tore the game apart and the dev made the game so much easier that you could finish the game without really interacting with the core mechanics at all, without providing separate difficulty settings.
The game was still feeling good, but I feel like we really lost something, and people would have realized that if the dev had listened to more than just the people who are financially incentivized to be impatient with the games they play.
Noob, did you even try to knife it?
I hate games where they show the person who killed you on the map or similar.
What is the point of getting a good spot with the sniper if after one kill I get hunted down when they respawn. I need to move instantly. That’s stupid.
The point is to make camping harder. Please be joking.
But real snipers camp (and then move if they’re smart). But that shouldn’t be contingent upon an omniscient view. It should be contingent on other people seeing where the shot came from or otherwise surveying the area. If you want realism in your game, no kill cams.
The games with kill cams aren’t trying to be realistic.
That’s fair
I think the reason is because people don’t like to be insta killed by something they couldn’t possibly have noticed.
Have you tried looking at it from their perspective? Like you getting sniped out of nowhere when trying to get to your good spot?
Yes and I an of course annoyed, but I don’t think it’s fair to reveal their spot. I already have enough advantage, because I know where they roughly are.
But usually in those games they use the sniper as a shotgun, because everything else is useless
Yes, I have. And there are better ways of doing it.
You could, in example, show a directional cone of where the shot came from on death. It tells you something, but not everything.
Planetside 2, and similar, gives you literal wall hacks for 20 seconds. I play with friends often, so when one of us dies we end up describing the player’s exact movements post-death without even thinking. That’s completely broken.
Should’ve kept your eye out for snipers I say
play more arma
I don’t play too many fps games, but I liked that feature in COD:MW2 (yes I am old now). kept the game moving along and it was hilarious to mow people down as they tried to sneak up on you again and again
I also liked on more mil sim games that it doesn’t have that feature, you just fucking die.
tl;dr: I’ve only played games where it’s appropriate to the game style
I know why they do it but I always thought it weird that you see what happens after you die.
In real life it doesn’t even go black.
No, what’s stupid is one shot kill stupidly accurate sniper weapons in the first place.
Either way no one is happy. I think some simple solutions are:
- Limit actual sniper ammo, maybe 5-10 rounds total per life.
- Anything further than like 150m should require zeroing and accounting for wind even in casual games. It could be simplified/not true to life, but it should be done for balance. IRL snipers are not very viable for most things for a reason. They’re a specialist tool, not an actual alternative to an assault rifle.
- No one-shot kill bodyshots from snipers.
- Damage heavily reduced with increasing distance.
- Accuracy heavily penalized for anything but staying still while prone.
- Require a few frames of no mouse/right stick inputs to hold breath/stabilize, limiting snipers to largely static targets
- For those who do like to run around with long range weapons especially in games like Battlefield, add a nice DMR. Should fire single shot semi-auto only, but have ammo and mags comparable to an assault rifle, better precision, but damage pretty much the same as an AR.
First fuck camping. I prefer a more chaotic approach hardcore match with killcam off, 200% dmg… A fart could oOf the enemy and teammates.
That’s how snipers work in real life. They get one shot then they have to move.
This is what WoW did to MMO games.
“I should be able to dual weild two handers, interrupt spells, cc an entire screen, do full dps at range, and heal myself to full immediately, because another class can do one of those things each”
Minus the dual wield 2h, that was the Monk during the Pandaria years
Which is kind of the point. I think after TBC each expansion got more and more homogeneous
I wonder if there could be a game where players decide the balance at the start of the game. So everyone has sliders with all the damage values for all weapons, and the game sets the balance to a median of all the votes.
furious scribbling
You could have a point system. Oh! Maybe each player could have their own individual sliders. Of course, you’d have to have less guns for it to really work well but the game would balance itself…or be incredibly broken. Both are fun
It is very annoying, especially because whenever you advocate for vehicles being balanced to be more powerful/tough there is immediate pushback from engineer run-and-gun players… but they don’t understand how it often takes a lot of preparation to get an armored fighting vehicle into a useful position vs them spawning in and randomly running across an armored fighting vehicle, pulling out the rpg and shooting.
Armored fighting vehicles are temporarily not part of the main servers for Operation Harsh Doorstop though I imagine they will be coming back soon as vehicle UI is being worked on currently but I recommend OHD as an alternative. The game is more like squad than battlefield, but it is free and moddable.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/736590/Operation_Harsh_Doorstop
There are IFV apcs, MRAPs, jeeps, trucks and helicopters in the mod currently, but they are all very refreshing in that they are powerful while still being vulnerable.
Also check out Easy Red 2 an awesome fairly realistic but easy to get into WW2 game and I do have to give credit to Halo Infinite here that vehicles feel very skillful and powerful in multiplayer, especially in objective games like CTF.
That’s what I like about Helldivers 2, AH looks mainly at the numbers to decide what gets nerfed or buffed, not at big mouths.
Not to say they can’t do a better job at it, but still.
Lmao time truly is a flat circle. People used to (they might still, but I don’t follow anymore) say this about Blizzard and Overwatch, except not in a positive way
The mechanical divide between being PVE and PVP makes a big difference here.
It would have, if Overwatch had actual serious PVE modes
Damn, imagine being on a team with John_KillingOfWar, inventor of KillingOfWar, and doing this. He’s gonna be so disappointed in you.
Alternate take: The patch happened because John_KillingOfWar saw this happen to his teammate and decided out of spite that tanks should be nerfed because he really likes gamer_gary12.
*coughOverwatchcough*
i was gonna say this is the entire discussion around overwatch balance. “the balance is trash” usually comes from people who do this exact thing with equivalent heroes
‘They have a hero with a shield AND a Bastion? We might as well just forfeit now.’
‘That McCree stun is such bullshit. It’s like ten minutes long.’
‘How’d they win? I was shooting them from less than 20 feet from the point. Well, okay, less than 50, but still…’
‘We keep killing them all one at a time without advancing past the doorway. Why aren’t we winning?’
‘The hog hooked me over the edge for the fiftieth time today. How am I, a simple Brazilian DJ, supposed to avoid death in the face of such terrible game design?’
This describes Planetside 2 quite nicely.
Mmm, shoving magriders into places they shouldn’t go (like infantry fights) is kinda fun though.
I really REALLY want a game where its like 40 vs 80, where the 40 have great tech, information and drone systems, but long respawn timers, vs 80 insurgent style players with cold war weapons, little to no armor, and litte information, but have fast respawns. And the game tries to keep weapons realistic rather than balanced.
You can get pretty close with arma 3. You’ll have to join a discord and do manual matchmaking though
