Names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and encrypted passwords were compromised in the attack.
about 41.5 million Canadians as of 2025
Mozilla Monitor sent me an email last week notifying me that I was part of a Canadian Tire breach that included an email and password.
When I went to the site it wouldn’t show any Canadian Tire breach that I was a part of.
I almost wonder if they added information on this breach and then removed it afterward for some reason.
There are 33.1 million adult Canadians.
It’s accounts not people. And by accounts they just mean unique email address.
Yeah… wonder how an address of mine ended up in that dump. I’m from the EU and definitely never had any business with them.
Seriously? That’s a little scary.
Yeah. Why would I order tires from oversea? That makes zero sense.
…and don’t call me Shirley 🤣
Canadian Tire started as a tire store, but quickly branched out into all sorts of merchandise. You can buy Hudson’s Bay blankets from Canadian Tire.
Still never ordered anything from that. I even checked the list of other stores they apparently also own. I have really no idea wtf they would store my mail address. It’s a semi public one listed also on the blog and in various GIT commit entries so I kinda guess it’s scraped.
