Absolutely insane. It’s bad in the U.S. but it’s not that razor thin. 12 euros a week? Even if you walk to work, live off of only rice and beans, and your only entertainment is going to the library, that is still not enough money to live.
So many people are getting into debt, and then have to get into a never ending cycle of interest.
I often paid bills, even partially, and had less than a dollar left to figure out food and transportation for myself and my child (who is now an adult), and that was on what the market considered a “good” wage. It’s worse now.
The UK has for a while been a smaller-scale neoliberal policy simulator to see how anglos react to permanent fascist rule before it’s implemented everywhere else.
