In the U.S., Democratic Socialist and Social Democrat has just come to mean New Dealer with a red color pallette. The policies proposed by Mamdani and Sanders are all New Deal/Keynsian. But the U.S. has such a warped political climate that FDR would be seen as a socialist today.

Absolutely insane. It’s bad in the U.S. but it’s not that razor thin. 12 euros a week? Even if you walk to work, live off of only rice and beans, and your only entertainment is going to the library, that is still not enough money to live.

It blows my mind to see Trump and MAGA pivot to blaming Iran for the collapse of the MOU when Israel so clearly violated it on purpose.

A friend of mine who is right leaning said Iran is the warmonger of the middle east, it just blows my mind how two people can look at a scenario and have have diametrically opposing interpretations of events.

Taking a tremendously difficult class which is normally a full semester but has crammed into an eight week summer course. Anatomy and Physiology. It is a nightmare. I get home from my full time job in healthcare at 10:30 pm and do homework until 6:00 am. Toss and turn and sweat and itch in bed for a few hours until it’s time to go back to work. I am not exaggerating. Chemistry and cell structure is so abstract and hard to follow.

I got a 62/100 on the first exam covering the first three chapters. I guess it’s not the end of the world. I have time to turn it around if I redouble my efforts. I’m usually a straight A student.

Every time I talk to people how awful this existence is I’m told it’s a problem with my way of thinking. It always comes back around to being my fault. It gets old. Life isn’t fun.

As Norman Finkelstein once said: “Speaking as a devout atheist, thank God we’re mortal.”

Governments will use it to surveil and kill people. Corporations will use it to exploit people and brainwash their employees and the wider populace. Will waste unfathomable amounts of fresh water which is not a renewable resource. It’ll ruin lives, communities.

But it makes the right people rich so it’ll be shoved down our throats and we’re stuck with it forever.

Edit: I hate it and think it’s use should be HEAVILY restricted by the state.

Absolutely historic times we are living in. But good for the DPRK. Outstanding achievement.

This ruling class has no legitimacy whatsoever. There may be some argument if they ensured the masses had security, shelter, medical care, food etc., but they offer nothing to the working class, they are wholely parasitic. And when the working class fights back, they use fascism to reestablish their order.

It’s probably a propaganda technique to make leftists see themselves as weak and ineffective. Dividing the left is great for the ruling class. Meanwhile dividing the right is not a priority because fascism is not a threat to capitalism.

In any political movement there is infighting. But unfortunately Conservatives and Fascists agree on way more than they disagree on and so can collaborate much easier.

Meanwhile on the left and supposed left, Communists, Anarchists, and Social Democrats, have fundamental disputes about tactics, and objectives making collaboration almost impossible.

Capitalism is an alienating and dehumanizing system. It would be strange NOT to be depressed in these circumstances. That means you are human.

I think that it is healthy to be intellectually, socially, and physically active. Scientists studying rats in cages consistently find that the rats in cages with toys and other rats are healthier and smarter than the rats without stimulation. Get involved with an activist group. Have friends over. Go for a walk. Read a good book.

Then also, progress is the key to happiness. Whatever your goals are, you haven’t accomplished them yet, YET. Keep repeating that word: Yet. Take steps towards your goals every day so you have something to show for all this struggling.

I hope it gets better. Your twenties are hard, don’t let anyone lie to you that they’re the best times.
