You can pretend to have a gun and rob a convenience store for $200 and get 10-20 years of hard time or possibly the death penalty in the US.

Rob hundreds of millions of dollars and you get to live in halfway house.

    Two-tired justice system!

Just wanting to point out that one of those has a violence aspect you seem to be ignoring by focusing on the amount stolen. Yes she stole hundreds of millions instead of $200… but she didn’t threaten anyone at gunpoint while doing so.

Even at the smaller number, shoplifting $200 of merchandise, embezzling $200 from an employer, or even just grabbing $200 out of a cash drawer left open, are all totally different from aggravated robbery at gunpoint for that same $200.

It’s still a two tiered justice system that lets off white collar criminals with very little punishment for their crimes, but your example to compare is terrible.

She destroyed many people’s livelyhoods with a perverse network of fraudulent activity ultimately betraying millions of people. She was in a position of leadership and used the trust people put in her to decieve them. This is a vile act on every single person she interacted with knowing everything was a farce. She diverted resources away from actual life saving research, ruined people’s lives, and destroyed faith in the industry. It was a real shit show.

That store owner was out less than a single days profit from a crime with no physical violence.

Are you sure? Because from a moral or fiscal perspective you can’t compare them.

a crime with no physical violence.

That’s your defense of ignoring the violence aspect? Because they weren’t actually shot, just threatened?

Being threatened at gunpoint is arguably worse than just being hit by a punch or an object, if you want to only talk about physical violence. There is a massive mental impact even if you aren’t actually shot.

Ask literally any school shooting survivor. There’s tens of thousands of them, and more nearly every day. With 233 school shootings in 2025, actually down from a peak of 352 in 2023, and all the shootings before going back decades, there are plenty of people to ask without even needing to get into the numbers of armed robberies where people do get shot.

She’s a piece of shit, but putting armed robbery and financial fraud in the same basket is insane.

So you are saying the pyschological violence of being threatened one time is comparable to losing your job, career, and investments!? A lot of these blokes were all in. We are talking almost a thousand people totally fucked.

These people are ready to kill themselves. This is not hyperbole, her employees actually committed suicide over her actions.

I really don’t think you know the scope of suffering she caused. I will give you the benefit of the doubt though.

Knowing how much suffering she caused in so many people’s lives, the huge sum she cost investors (which of course includes people’s retirement funds all over the US), the public harm of wasting so many people’s time, diverting hundreds of millions of dollars that could have gone to actual life saving research, and the thousands of people she stone cold lied to in order to orchestrate this epic fraud are you still sure?

People lose their entire jobs, careers, and livelihoods every single day to things unrelated to fraud schemes. While it sucks, and this country is almost completely lacking any societal safety nets anymore, it isn’t unique or even particularly rare honestly.

I’m saying, in no uncertain terms, the mental trauma from being threatened at gunpoint is demonstrably worse than money being stolen, every time, regardless of the monetary value.

These people are ready to kill themselves. This is not hyperbole, her employees actually committed suicide over her actions.

Hey, you won’t believe what some school shooting survivors end up doing…

In the past week, two survivors of the school shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida (which occurred on February 14, 2018) have died.  The first was a 19-year-old woman who had since graduated but was a “survivor of the 2018 massacre at the school [who] took her own life” (‘Apparent suicide’ of Parkland student days after massacre survivor…, 2019, March 25).  This past Saturday, another currently enrolled student has died in “an apparent suicide” (ibid), at least until the medical examiner’s office rules differently.  He was a sophomore in the school at the time of the 2018 massacre.

              https://cgi.edu/news/suicide-in-school-shooting-survivors/

It is clear from your responses and complete disregard for mental health effects, that you have never actually felt true fear in your life. Probably no friends or loved ones either. Or maybe you just can’t empathize with people you don’t know, like most Republicans in this country apparently. None of the violence and fear leveraged in their preferred methods matter, until it affects them personally. Or maybe you can’t empathize at all and fein empathy as publicly as possible, in online conversations where no one can see you, as a shield. To hide sociopathic tendencies and a lack of empathy like many serial killers do.

Doesn’t really matter, in the end you’re choosing to ignore mental health trauma from the imaginary armed robbery comparison, that you brought up, in favor of prioritizing the amount of monetary damages as being the thing that matters.

You are kind of all over the place. Let’s get back to what was said.

I drew a comparison between an actual criminal who caused real deaths and hundreds of millions of dollars in damages with a fictional scenario of a person non-violently robbing a store saying they had a gun and getting a twenty year sentence for getting away with $200.

In real life she is already in a halfway house… Its barely been 2 fucking years! Are you one of these lunatics who wants to see her in a future role in the administration? Considering she just asked Trump to let her go and now she got this sweet new deal. You got my wheels spinning bro!

At any rate the amount of crimes she committed combined with the loss of life just fucking blows this out of the water. No question and a perfect example of our two-tiered justice system, which based on your obvious bias against blue collar crime, is alive and well. Cheers!

Lol. You’re the one that brought blue collar crime into the discussion in the first place. There’s no defense of the two tier bullshit farm here. Even though you seem to be stuck on that for whatever reason.

I pointed out that bringing a crime involving gun violence into the discussion as a comparison made no sense. For whatever reason you keep trying to defend that initial choice as if it somehow is a relevant comparison at all.
