just commenting here to let you know that i noticed they removed your comment on latest episode on youtube
mine was critical of their reformism and has been removed too
cowards
No they haven’t removed it. It’s still there. No matter how much we disagree, the boys never censored my speech.

it’s a shadowban, you can see it but no one else can. Log out and look in the comments

that is all of the comments, mine is gone and so is yours.
Were the comments detailed or were they as simple as “join lemmygrad” like the one Saymaz mentioned in General Discussion Thread? I’m wondering if they got caught by Youtube spam filters and that’s the reason it’s shadowban behavior.
They were detailed, yes. Saymaz commented a long Lenin quote about reformists, I commented this:

my suspicion is that JT removed them considering how he behaved with the anti-Mamdani comments that one time. It’s just cringey to silence critique like this, I really have lost so much respect for them and I used to be a dedicated listener and supporter. Maybe it’s not as bad as it looks (and if that’s, sorry for making something out of nothing), maybe it is though.
Personally, I have no stake in defending them. Rarely ever watched their stuff to begin with and don’t trust the streamer/podcaster class. So though I’m not gonna hastily say “fuck em”, I will say that if the information is telling you they are losing sight of a marxist-leninist view in favor of milquetoast reform and comments opposing that are getting hidden, I’d say take it for what it is: Their material interests aren’t the same as yours and they can’t be trusted to go as far as you need to. They make money from being an indie mouthpiece and don’t need to ever be directly among the working class to do it, nor even materially challenge the system. They can exist as vocal opposition in the abstract and, in fact, their finances are less stable the more concrete their opposition becomes, which will motivate them to err on the side of being too restrained in their views, in order to ensure their channel(s) (source of revenue) stays intact.
Best of luck with discerning.
the real mayor is zionist billionaire police commissioner Tisch. he’s too much of a chickenshit to fire her so who has the real power?
Either Mamdani is controlled opposition or he is proving through his powerlessness the limits of socialism within a reformist framework.
This on top of the fact he’s merely a mayor. Structural change was never going to come from that position anyway.
Mamdani’s power is in using one of the most powerful cities on the planet to run Socialist experiments. Those that work can be used in other cities, and eventually at a Federal level.
If you expect Mamdani to wave a magic wand and solve every problem in America, then yeah, you’re going to see him as a failure. If you see him as a positive minded leader who isn’t afraid to try new solutions and ideas to help the people, then he’s a success, even if all his ideas aren’t home runs.
Those of us who supported him don’t expect home run after home run, that would be wildly unrealistic. All we want is for someone to make an honest try at policies that are designed to help the CITIZENS for a change, not the wealthy, and Mamdani is doing that.
MAGAs want to make it about the score, Mamdani supporters want to make it about the game.
This ignores the scenario that Mamdani is controlled opposition and/or an opportunist. It would be nice if he wasn’t, but history is not as forgiving as we would like.
welfare is not socialist experiments. hes is just going like the bare minimum socdem city amangement
Even FDR was more radical and FDR wasn’t a socialist. He campaigned on a balanced budget.
This on top of the fact he’s merely a mayor. Structural change was never going to come from that position anyway.
This is the most significant thing you can take away from this situation. Mayors in general, but specifically the mayor of NYC possesses very little power to react to situations in a tactical manor. NYC has had so many corrupt mayors that the city and state government have essentially made it a lame duck position. They can affect change over a long period of time, but have little power to intervene in the day to day operation of the city.
The best we can hope for is that Mamdani uses his time as mayor as a springboard into higher office, though the office of mayor is typically a career dead end in elective politics.
Your argument only works given the notion that Mamdani is earnest rather than controlled opposition.
It doesn’t particularly matter to me since I’m not a reformist anyway, but it’s interesting to see how this experiment goes if it’s in fact not what we’ve seen countless times already.
Your argument only works given the notion that Mamdani is earnest rather than controlled opposition.
I don’t really think so. We can objectively look at opportunities where he’s had a realistic route to make changes with the power he is legally afforded and see how he’s chosen to enact those powers.
Though i think “controlled opposition” is so loosely defined that it would be hard to really effectively argue if someone is or isn’t one. To argue that he isn’t one it would require the person claiming that he is to be more specific about who is controlling him, and how a person who is controlled opposition is supposed to operate.
I don’t really have a strong opinion about the superiority of reform over revolution. I think they’re really the left and right hand to the same body. If reform is successful, grand. And if not, that is sometimes what the populace needs to see to spark the revolution.
I am all for trying reform, if there is even a small chance at success it would save a whole bunch of lives, particularly in the global south. So many people live on the margins now that any moderate deteriorating in the current global logistics structure would likely lead to hundreds of millions of people dying. If we can avoid that, it would be nice.
I don’t consider myself a reformist, but I doubt reformist theory is as simple as “all you need is a socialist mayor and then you can sit back and enjoy socialism for the rest of your life while he does all the work and presses the off button on all the fascism machines”.
Fair
He was supposed to arrest Netenyahu
DemSoc.
I don’t see opposition. Just different fronts for the protection of Herrenvolk Democracies. Mamdani is as USAmerican as apple pie.
Mamdani sickens me, it’s always worse when it is someone you expected to be on your side.
“Controlled opposition” does not simply mean “does things differently than I’d like.” It means they’re getting paid to lie to you by the people who pay your overt opponents.
Exaggerations like this don’t help us see the world more clearly, and unless someone is already on our side they’re just going to dismiss this as crankery.
well then it’s up to us to explain why it’s not, in fact, crankery. given the fact that he controls the world’s third-largest military, which he has not pulled out of tel aviv, and given that the very same military just provided security for the very same individual he was promising to arrest, i don’t think it’s a terrible leap. also he would have had to have hours of “donor time”, possibly every week, before he even got the nomination
given the fact that he controls the world’s third-largest military
that’s not a fact, that’s a great man fan theory
is it great man theory to say that the guy who has the power to hire and fire the new york city police chief controls the new york city police? if anything, it’s great man theory to say the mayor of the center of global capitalism, the city that built something like four world trade centers, could ever be anything but a material supporter of capitalist imperialism.
Yes, because the police won’t just do whatever the police chief says. You call the NYPD a military: if you were the police chief and ordered them to invade New Jersey, what do you think would happen?
i’m talking about closing a branch already controlled by the nypd. i’m talking about not officially deploying the nypd as security for netanyahu. even if we have to accept, materially, that mamdani was always lying about having the ability to arrest netanyahu, nothing forces the office of the mayor of new york to keep on jessica tisch as police chief. nothing forces the office of the mayor of new york to provide personal protection to a man its occupant promised to arrest. nothing forces that same occupant to condemn anti-imperialist struggle, to push western propaganda about the same, to materially support imperialism. besides, of course, that in order to run as a democrat, your promises to the donors must be stronger than your promises to the people.
well then it’s up to us to explain why it’s not
his Ws to Ls ratio is like 99:1, like who gives a shit if he “failed to obliterate pissant yahoo and give optimus prime back the matrix of leadership and end world hunger and give $20 to cuba” those aren’t reasonable things to expect a mayor to do. like this isn’t a marvel movie there’s nothing to explain here except “what’s a mayor”
I agree with you intellectually but the fact that Netanyahu still walks fills me with incomprehensible rage
Its not like his mom went to Epstein parties promote herself for personal gain, oh wait…
“Just left Ghislaine’s townhouse…after party for film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there…Jean Pigoni, director Mira Nair (mother) …etc.”
Sorry what kind of gullible leftist expects something from the DSA?
