I think you’re more likely to be targeted by responding.
But I might not be the best judge, i was hosting drag shows in my town…I assumed all threats were related to that

Well I’m sorry, but there’s a lot of news that’s political. Keep all of that at politics? Or does it belong here - since elections are things that happen.

Just curious, where’s the line? Any of these headlines acceptable as news?
“Polly Tishin proposes law that won’t pass”
“Corey Uptindividual found on Epstein list”
“Epstein files released”
“Polly Tishin wins reelection”
“ICE targets LGBT community”
“Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorentino wins gubernatorial bid”

I was a Facebook admin for a few groups in rural america.
I just deleted and perma banned that kinda thing. Never heard any complaints.

I was at a show where Billie Joe Armstrong rocked so hard he lost his voice and had to cancel his show the next night.

I think one of the first ways is to show up. Like if a place is hosting a drag show, recognize that they’ve lost customers, so now you need to show up for the drag shows AND during regular hours.
If its somewhere you want to be a third space, then be friendly. Engage in conversation. If you’ve been going for a while, welcome new people to the space.
Third spaces don’t have to be businesses, they can be parks, libraries, and the likes. Those are a bit easier to start your community in. Make a post on a local Facebook page, “I’m going to be at this park doing this. Every Sunday at 1PM, join me.” Then show up. The first event will likely only have 2 or 3 people show up. That’s normal. Keep it up, be consistent, and don’t get down when no one shows up, do it again. People will come when they realize they’ve missed out. Make sure people know they missed out, take pictures, make it look busy.
Lastly, I think non-profits, like animal shelters, political organizations, etc. need to be opening reasons for people to visit them. Animal shelters, I think should open pet stores or have a space for dog training - so that local dog owners can meet other dog owners and raise their dogs better. Political parties should have bars/coffee shops so that people have a social third space to be, talk, and advance their party.

If a trans person will be dead if either candidate gets elected, then why do you believe that they should vote to improve your life?
You seem to believe that you are entitled to trans people’s votes. Why?

The article and its surrounding discussion as well as your hypothetical is about something real.
Seems like you don’t like my hypothetical because you don’t believe trans people are real humans. This is wrong.

I’m not who you replied to, but thanks for that explanation of intersectionality. I’m realitivly privileged and haven’t ever been in a position to confront intersectionality, but I’ve certainly heard the word, and witnessed it. I wish I learned it sooner, but I’m glad that this is what I learned today. Thank you!

Hi! The Lemmy elections are coming up soon to vote on the Supreme Lemmy Mod. I’m running!
Part of my plan to make Lemmy a better place is to specifically ban you from using Lemmy.
I know that may not be a policy you’re a fan of, however, my opponent is promising to ban you AND anyone with 5 letters in their username.
Obviously, I’m the better choice to vote for, since I’ll only ban you permanently once. My opponent, will ban you permanently twice.

Thank you for the clarification in the spoiler. It makes your argument way stronger.
We’ve lost organizational power in this country because the pedophile class has been destroying even slightly liberal third spaces. Christian coffee shops talks politics everyday, no one bats an eye. But god forbid a business support a queer person, then everyone will boycott that business because theyre doing politics.
Find your local third spaces that kinda support you, and build a community of spenders and force the third space to support you more.

Vibe coding and AI slop is bringing back havktivism. Hell yea.
Is this a Sabbath in the style of ABBA cover band or a ABBA in the style of Sabbath cover band?

Since we don’t assign blame directly to the decision makers that cause issues like these often enough. Here’s the CEOs LinkedIn:

If it’s just apple juice, then you don’t need nutrient. Just yeast and juice.
You’ll have a lower ABV, and you probably won’t be able to bottle carb.
You might also have a harder time as a homebrewer creating and maintaining ideal temperature and assuring that there is enough nitrogen and sugars. But that’s home brewing.
