No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•What drug(s) do you think would be an interesting substitute for peppercorns in a peppercorn shaker/grinder for culinary purposes?English
6·18 hours agoWouldn’t taste all that good, but a Psilocybin alcohol extraction condensed into crystals would work well form-wise in a peppermill as well as giving you a somewhat more consistent trip than whole shrooms…

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•“Horizon Forbidden West™ Complete Edition” or “God of War”?English
2·1 day agoI vote horizon forbidden west because the world is -so engaging- even more than the original imo. Even the side quest chains are beautiful and moving. They did a very good job with it.
I haven’t played GoW though, so I’m definitely biased.

4·1 day agoIf you have them nearby, it’s also good to know what’s at building/home resale places, like Habitat for Humanity re-store. Many of them have a lot more variety than you’d think, including furniture, tools, chains and wires, paint, etc. in addition to building materials. Sometimes they get big donations of new stuff like tile, lightbulbs, or insulation. I just got 10 LED lightbulbs for $3.50 total.

8·2 days agoThere, see? That’s something you get caught doing.
Wild what people are willing to admit to, though… 0.0 hopefully joking

Are there any Linux distros that are good with both touchscreen and fingerprint scanners? I have a laptop that needs a bigger hard drive, so might as well get a new OS, and its touchscreen with a fingerprint scanner. I use it to look stuff up when I’m using another computer, and to download stuff. That’s about it now that I have a “real gaming computer”.
I use Ubuntu on my other computers, and I like it well enough. I’ve tried mint cinnamon and did not particularly like it. I’m sure ubuntu would be fine to use again, but I’d like to try something else.
It’s not naive, it’s a lie meant to change the conversation and distort the opinions of people who don’t know better.
If the person representing the government says it, it must be true, right?
They aren’t saying that for people who know better. They don’t care about people who know better. They are saying it for people who don’t. Those are their supporters. Those are the people who can be made into supporters.

news@lemmings.world•North Texas men indicted over bizarre scheme to sail to Haitian island, kill all the men and enslave the women and childrenEnglish
50·2 days agoAccording to prosecutors, the men, both of whom live in the Dallas area, began masterminding their bizarre plan in August 2024.
Their alleged goal was to take over Gonave — a tropical island of about 100,000 people located roughly 30 miles from Port-au-Prince — in order to carry out “rape fantasies.”
The plot involved buying a sailboat, weapons and ammunition and recruiting homeless people in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area “to serve as a mercenary force.”
“Mastermind” is definitely a bit of a stretch. One sailboat and a gaggle of homeless men against 100,000 people? ROFL.

I had chicken pox twice.
Once the normal variety when I was like 6 or whatever, then when I was like 11 or so I got it again when visiting my grandma who just hosted young kids. It was largely the same, except it had rings around the spots. They did tests and confirmed it was a mutated variety of common chicken pox.
I’m terrified of shingles outbreaks because I may have two strains lying dormant in my body, but I’m “too young for the shingles vax”
