Your prudery and moralism bores the hell out of me https://randomrantdispenser.neocities.org/rant04-2024-07-18

ps: If you are replying to me on some beehaw community I won’t see it. I have no intention of interacting with that instance again. Echo Chambers are a cancer rotting away your brain.

  • “Swiss law prohibits the country’s courts from compelling a VPN service to log IP addresses”
Seems like they breached only IPs that accessed emails (I haven’t read their email terms before, but the VPN says “strict no-logs policy” - which is audited), but because of the zero-knowledge encryption they can’t access email content.

ps: Another difference is that the government had to demonstrate on court there were basis to believe certain emails were linked to criminal activity… not that I don’t believe it’s bullshit, but in the USA they can require any data for any reason without demonstrating probable cause and you can’t even mention it’s happening.

  • Nope, that’s why independent audits exist. On a random day, technicians from other organizations show up and check how the data is being handled, and Proton has passed every audit.

The reason you can’t trust American companies on that is because of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and the National Security Letter. Government agencies can force companies to hand over data or create backdoors without court orders, and the companies aren’t allowed to tell their clients about it.

If you want to be a goody two-shoes, buy the game, download the .exe, and “lend” it to him - never play your GOG version while he’s playing, pretend it’s a physical media you have only one copy (because that’s exactly what no-DRM means, you OWN a copy of the game, this one copy is ours to do whatever you want with it), and just keep playing your Steam version while he plays your GOG copy.
However, if you read their terms, it’s actually legal for you to keep two copies of the game - like one on the device you’re playing and another somewhere else as a backup. So you can legally lend your game and still keep a backup copy.

  • I don’t believe thinking of a crime equals to committing it, regardless of what crime it is, and that’s it.

I couldn’t care less about how the piece of plastic someone wants to fuck looks like, it’s just plastic. I just disputed your idea of the venn diagram because the doll is headless, you can put anything in there and project whatever you want - unless you consider furries, those otakus with pillow wives, and other stuff like that, a danger to children as well… hell, I know a fella from TV that might want to put a Green M&M face on that doll.

  • You never know if the guy is buying that to put a bunny head on it because he actually has a furry fetish and wants to fuck that Zootopia character (as per the picture other user posted, the head is not included in the product)… do we consider furries dangerous around pets? I really don’t know, because maybe someone buying that doll is actually attracted to some anime character and not real people, and I guess it’s a similar fetish or paraphilia - they get aroused by a distorted image of people and pets, not by actual people and pets.

I’m all for shipping it with a warning message about seeking help, or even putting pictures like they do on cigarette packs (“This is what a pedophile’s butthole looks like in prison” - it has 37 knife holes on it). But regardless of how disturbing and disgusting I may find it, I also find it none of my business if no one is actually being hurt by it. We consume more pornography than ever and have less sex than ever. If a guy is getting his satisfaction from having a fantasy with a piece of plastic, good for him, preventing him from doing that won’t make him any less of a pedophile (if that’s the reason he bought the doll). I’d be more worried if he had no other safe means of relief.

I’ve read somewhere that adding too much complexity just lights a beacon your way, like “look at this guy with shitty latency using all these weird ports, he must be up to something”.

However, OP just seems to want to use Tor without falling into Captcha Hell.
