Technology@lemmy.world•Nintendo Loves You: No Plans To Abandon Physical Media Because 'Fans Enjoy It'. "We have no plans to abandon physical media. We know how much fans enjoy it."English
0·10 days agoNintendo’s more or less heading down a path Sony started on with the PS3. But in this case they start with some game-key cards… Eventually, it’ll be all key cards or maybe give them altogether.
Call me crazy but I miss 16:9 5"/5.5" standard smartphones(aka pre 2018) made it possible to comfortably 1-hand. Then they had to switch to doom-scroll long ratio sizes.
It been downhill since they went Electron, I don’t remember the old app taking more than 3 to 4 seconds, since the Electron client loading times have been unpredictable sometimes around 30 seconds even though no updates available.

Games@lemmy.world•Hackers steal millions of Discord IDs and email addresses in "deliberate, multi-stage attack" on security service Double CounterEnglish
0·29 days agoStoat chat seems pretty decent open source alternative to Discord, tried it for a while and has similar usability, but same issue, “nobody uses it”, also development has been very slow.
First thing I thought! I wanna believe maybe she just managed to tuck it really well for a short bit ^^

Technology@lemmy.world•"Rising cost of memory," Microsoft explains why Windows 11 will use less RAMEnglish
0·1 month agoThe effect is that OEMs are bringing 8GB laptops back, and hopefully, Windows 11 won’t choke on it.
8GB of RAM: the gift that keeps on giving. In 2005, you were basically running a supercomputer. By 2015, you were… still doing fine, honestly. Fast forward to 2025 and your machine is wheezing like it just climbed five flights of stairs while Chrome is open. But wait—2026 rolls around and suddenly 8GB is back to being acceptable again because everyone finally realized Electron apps were a mistake and went back to native development. Just kidding, we’re all doomed. Your IDE alone needs 12GB now.

Ergo Proxy, can’t say I liked the story and pace but fitted the dark theme pretty well imo, specially it’s artwork.
