Get out and protest! Demand what is your right! Demand changes in voting laws, demand health care, demand housing, demand a living wage for all, demand abolishing billionaires, demand the end of corporate rule, demand justice for all those prosecuted by ICE, demand support for Palestine!

You remember the hope messages during Obama’s time and remove all hope cause look what happens. I’m not excited and don’t wanna hear about blue waves. I want to see a salted earth approach from Dems reversing everything and putting new clear laws in place.

Until that happens and hell freezes over, I don’t buy any rhetoric. I’m too old and seen this shit so many times already.

Some of us remember roughly 2019-2021ish, 2007-2011ish, and basically the mid-1950s through the mid-1990s when Dems controlled quite a lot of both chambers of Congress.

Get ready for your lukewarm progress.

Hope is a mental illness, you have to work.

A good way to start is as a precinct committee officer (PCO) for your favorite political party. You don’t have to run for office or do anything that you don’t want to do. Meetings are usually monthly, it costs nothing.

Check your party’s website, there’s one for each county or state.

They are also always in need of volunteers for some event or another

Manage ones expectations. Many Dems are still bought and owned.

Many Dems voted for the big beautiful bill. Many voted yes to Trump’s cabinet picks.

We can’t assume having more Dems will actually change anything. Especially since Jeffries and shumer, also bought and owned, literally work against the people.

Manage expectations or be sorely disappointed in the next two years.

Until we get an unbought-president and majority unbought-Dems in Congress, we won’t see any improvements.

We can only hope for a slow down of the decline. Not a halt.

I’d like to be optimistic but i just don’t think that’s realistic.

We are on the right track for sure. But the work to fix corruption has barely started.

Stay vigilant and watch the money.

We got at least two new Senators who publicly disavowed AIPAC money. They can keep slinging money, but they’re clearly losing their grip.

The protocol is not to get apathetic. Organize, draft plans, get smart, then…

    • Enshrine Roe
    • protect unions
    • Lower costs by breaking up anticompetitive industry monopolies
    • use War Powers Act’s mechanisms to restrain Trump’s military adventurism
    • compel the release of Epstein files by legislating state standing to sue when the DoJ hampers state criminal investigations into Epstein-connected individuals and properties
    • Throw Trump’s corrupt cronies in jail and ensure no bribes by their connected friends reach him in the pay-for-pardons scheme that was going on.
    • allow individuals to sue when federal agents raid your home or detain you without warrant (enshrine Bivens)
    • Legislatively end Citizens United
    • Reform Medicare/aid into M4A
    • Pass a federal wealth tax, or at minimum consider amounts above a $20M threshold borrowed against equities or assets as income for tax purposes.
    • Implement universal childcare
    • reform ICE to the point of it being unrecognizable to before.
    • prepare to reform the Supreme Court in 2028.

No Kings shouldn’t stop now. This is only the beginning where the path begins to put America back together into a democracy, not a banana republic, and it won’t happen on its own devices. It takes active participation from people to shutout the fascist and billionaire influence.

I’ve specifically excluded Trump from Trump and his cronies because the Supreme Court 1/3 appointed by him as it stands will stump for him until he leaves, so IMO it’s most effective use of time to address the corruption around him, and let court processes play out as they would.

Robert Mueller’s tried investigating him Jack Smith has tried investigating him, I think Smith should bring charges against Trump with Congress’ backing based on evidence he has that he claims proves wrongdoing beyond a reasonable doubt.

I won’t be upset if they try filing articles of impeachment, but all you Americans try to find me 11 willing Republican senators to back that idea. In the meantime, all the points of the list deserve more attention in my opinion.

Jim Johnson - the people should have affordable healthcare and groceries - 50.5%
John Jimson - let’s put brown people in concentration camps - 48.5%

I am happy for the wave but i can never get over how insane the margins are…

For so so so many people, they don’t know A SINGLE POLICY of anyone they voted for. They just know that one side is good and one side is bad. They will not listen to what the bad side says because they are bad. You cannot explain it to them because I they don’t want to understand it. They vote based on not understanding anything. Even what the person they voted for believes.

And so so many others just truly hate brown people more than they enjoy breathing. It’s a miracle they haven’t suffocated themselves by now.

The midterms were a clear sign that the Trump admin is hated by the people. However, this cannot be confused as support for the Democrats. Democrats are very nearly as unpopular as Republicans, which is why Trump 2 even happened in the first place. The Democrats, like the Republicans, are under the domination of billionaires. Different billionaires, sure, but billionaires all the same. The genocides in Cuba and Palestine will not be lifted by the same party that worked across the aisle to facilitate in the first place.

We need an entirely different system. A socialist system. The Democrats will never give us a system that is run by the people, where housing isn’t a commodity, where healthcare and medicine are free for all, where education isn’t just paid for socially, but open to all people to continue even later in life to help facilitate career changes, where we no longer have hundreds of millitary bases around the world keeping the people in terror.

We need to get there, and it won’t come from the ballot box. We need a revolution. Revolution isn’t just something you do, or something that falls into your lap. It happens when there is a large, revolutionary socialist party, a class conscious working class, and a crisis in the capitalist class. We can directly contribute to the first two by getting involved with a socialist party. Both Freedom Road Socialist Organization and the Party for Socialism and Liberation have two tiers of membership, general membership which is low commitment in time and money, and cadre membership, which requires significant time and money. See which is more active near you (almost certainly PSL, but varies), and consider joining the general membership!

    Educate!

    Agitate!

    Organize!

I never told people not to vote. I told people that reformism will never establish socialism, and that socialism is necessary. The Democrats winning is not a victory for the working class, it’s a defeat of the Republican wing of the capitalist class. Framing this as a working class victory is shortsighted. The democrats will never and can never put the power in the people’s hands, which is why socialism is necessary.

Impeach, convict, imprison, and then start restructuring the voting system to prevent gerrymandering and then to dismantle the two party system. For a start.

Unfortunately only ‘impeach’ is on the table at the federal level, they didn’t (and realistically couldn’t) pick up enough senate seats to reach the threshold to convict in the senate. Hopefully reforms can be brought through at state levels though, and then when/if federal control switches back we’ll be able to integrate those changes across the entire system.

The Democrats can’t impeach on a partisan vote, but enough Republicans that barely skated might jump ship. Some of them have 6 years for people to forget an impeachment vote.

They know damned well Trump is dying of dementia and when he goes the MAGA cult pops. Best to get ahead of the curve and say, “I stood up and did the right thing!”

No, I’m not holding out any hope, but at least I can see a path if I squint real hard.

Make sure to keep going with it. It’s all great, but the job isn’t over yet.

I mean, Hakeem Jeffries will be the speaker of the house 🫠 closed door mertings with Kushner and all.

We also don’t know the reaction yet from the regime. Did Iran “rig the elections?”

While I am properly pleased, I’m still waiting for another fascist shenanigan shoe to drop. They assaulted the Capitol while Congress was trying to certify the vote for president. This ain’t over yet. Enjoy, but keep your guard up and be ready for the worst.
