I don’t think Nirvana is an afterlife, rather a state of being where you are at peace and one with the universe. Maybe I understand buddhism wrong?

Some Buddhists, like Shambala Tibetan Buddhists teach that if you can stop the cycle of cause and effect you will disappear, in a good way. I’m not sure if that’s a teaching you are meant to digest and learn something from, or if it’s more of a statement of what they think will happen when you achieve your goal to stop causing suffering.
Some Buddhists believe in energy transfer, and when you die you can be in a temporary state of energy transfer, but only temporary and not a place

Yes, Buddhism has no say about afterlife, unless you believe in literal rebirth. Nirvana is a state of mind when on is free from Dukkha (“suffeting”).
Buddhism is trying to commit suicide, but believing you need special conditions to not just be isekaid again.
