Everyone keeps saying, the US is trying to kill off its poor with its medical industry.

I’m assuming the ideal population size, in this scenario, is around the number of millionaires there are in the world. And, doctors fit snuggly into that bracket.

What happens when population goes down? There isn’t going to be need for as many doctors. And, finance 101 says you need an ever running stream of revenue, or your income fails. You can’t live off of nesteggs.

Combine that with the fact that states like Utah are making it legal for AI to practice medicine. And I have to ask, under this scenario, do all these doctors think they’re going to survive? Especially the ones who couldn’t make it in the big cities?

The scenario you’ve made up here makes zero sense. The point is that the poor are denied access to healthcare. As in, they cannot pay the doctors right now. The doctors will not let them pay them. The doctors will not see them. The poor are not the doctors’ clients. The rich are, and the rich refuse to pay for more doctors so that the poor have more access to a doctor.

I’m hearing this scenario from everyone. I’m looking to clear up a few details.

And, don’t companies like Walmart prove that it is more profitable to take smaller gains, over time, than large profits?

We COULD have a better organized system of medicine that allows us to push down prices. We don’t, because we are corrupt.

The difference between Walmart and healthcare is that shopping at Walmart is a choice. If they raise their prices, people won’t stop there. The only way Walmart maintains a monopoly in any town is by making its services as cheap as possible. If they raise their prices, other stores can compete with them for customers.

Healthcare doesn’t work like that. You have to pay regardless of how high the price is. If your child breaks their leg, whether the ER charges you $250 or $25,000, you can’t just not treat it. Your child will be in pain for the rest of their life if you don’t pay. If $25,000 is the cost, that’s the cost.

That’s why healthcare requires government regulation to force prices down. That’s why every other country has government funded healthcare. The governments sets the prices, to make sure they don’t skyrocket out of control.

Doctors have guild protection and the total production of new doctors is held below market demmand to drive up their salaries.

Primary care doctors, though, are kind of fucked by the system, because they get paid as glorified nurses but with medical school debt.

And when a massive number of people die at once?

When the lowest in society die, there will be a new lower class to take its place – closer to the doctors themselves.

I don’t think you’re going to see a massive die off without concentration camps, which are not out of the question.

But you’re arguing we need to keep people alive so that other people can be better than them?

Yeah, because if the poor die off, doctors no longer have people lower than they are. They’re the next on the chopping block. There’s no need for as many of them as there are.

If you’re not the best of the best, you’re dying out.

The only essential workers are tradespeople. And a massive amount of them will be killed off as well. Have you seen how many of them are going into those fields?

Planned obsolescence won’t help keep jobs, because the college-educated rich are only going to pay for the best.
